Hey Alex . Is it worth it for me to go to school for my class A cdl ? It's 5 weeks ! 8hr days and I'm just not sure about it . I've already been approved for school. I'm just straddling the fence
I believe now you have to go through a school. If you have had your cdl in the past there are schools that offer a 3 to 4 hour refresher course. I had mine in the past and that is what I was looking to do. Already have a school picked for it. In the past you didn't need to do that, just get permit and go to dmv with proper truck and trailer.
I took a load of those from Bendpak last month with stops in Louisiana, Dallas, Houston and Austin. It was 100 to 105 degrees in Texas pulling tarps off and retarping. Not fun, but decent paying load.
Where do you keep your trailer when you need to do maintenance on your truck or anything else on the road? Love the videos, seems like you really have it together doing this!
Did you have an extended warranty to get the work done? Looked like your odometer was 135K at the time. If not, I thought the emissions warranty is only until 50K.
Love the videos you put out. You are all over the place. Do you ever go home lol. I’m thinking about getting out of a semi and doing this but dang brother I would want to be home weekends.
Great video Alex showing the strapping. It’s definitely gonna take some time to learn how to do that properly. I can understand now why it’s always a pain to have loads that require that.
@@_Machine631_ Yeah, I called it Elgin by mistake and forgot to correct it when editing the video 🤪 nice AFB. So many F35 taking off every few minutes.
How many hours free time are you giving your shippers/receivers before you start charging for your wait times? Average rate $$$? Love your channel, fellow 11 Western CDL Hot “Shotter!”….
@@juanfranco2527 If its slow for me to get out of Miami, why would you think If I put you to work it would be any better? 😁 having one person work under me and I stay home will not pay my bills. Do you have a truck and trailer?
@Mr.AlexKogan I don't have one, but if you help whit one I'm ok to keep up whit the payments and give you a % of every load, I being up here on the road since June 5 after visiting my family and I'm already working whit 3 companies, some people should stay as an employee and not owner operator 🤦🏾♂️
@@BRACLLC Sometimes, yes. Especially when you console metal stuff that’s been sitting outside in the rain and the broker says it needs to be tarped but it has a rusty film all over it.🤦♂️
Hi Alex, it looks like you’re wearing a body camera now instead of the camera on your hat. This gives a much better perspective especially when you’re placing the bungees on the tarp. Very nicely done and please stay safe.
@@richardbarkley9909 most places are friendly but you do get some butt munchers every now and then. Like this place where I picked up the full load, the forklift manager was an A hole.
Do you feel that the economy is a factor in loads being available anywhere? Florida has always been horrible to get anything paying to get out. I used to work for a patio furniture manufacturer and he was making side deals with shippers for way under $1 a mile back then....
@@richardbarkley9909 I don’t know if economy is a factor but Florida has been bad always. There have been times where I hit out of Miami at really good rates though. It’s hit or miss.
@@Mr.AlexKoganone guy I follow drives semi out of SC and posts the rates and how cutthroat it is, he had to take some time off since rates were so bad. I own a landscaping business but enjoy your content. I think the RU-vidr I mentioned is just trucking .
@@BENNHENDRICKS33 Taking time off because rates suck is a bad excuse unless he has a different job and his truck and trailer are paid off. I don’t know who in this business can afford to do that.
@Mr.AlexKogan i agree I think he's just trying to run SC > FL obviously if he wanted to run the money is there. He just showed where loads that were 1800 are 1100 and going as low as 6-800
You make everything you do look effortless Alex!! Always ready for a new challenging load!! Again, I say YOU SIR have set the bar pretty darn high for the Hot Shot industry & drivers!! Please travel safe always my friend!
Hey Alex greetings to you and the whole family. I am one of your followers and I wanted to ask you about your trailer. How many feet does your trailer have and what is the load capacity? I am trying to get an idea of what I want for myself. I have a CDL and I have a 2017 Ford 350 Super Duty Diesel 6.7. I am in Canada (Montreal).
Love ur videos you keep it simple and say facts and not BS appreciate it coming from someone thinking about getting in the business since I’m on the road all the time
Hey Alex love your videos! Keep them coming, quick question I want to start doing hot shot I’m in Texas I’m 30 years old. Do I need a CDL A or B for what you do?
