I once used this distinction to win with an air unit after my friend realized he forgot to upgrade his Goliath's range, and he still resents me to this day.
real wild west days back when in game stuff was confronted with irl consequences. On other note, check out my sparkyz playlist for more details on what went on at "lesser" quality teamhouses ru-vid.com/group/PLdqi0o4auh2FXl1DkHTYXl-Xok_eJn1Bv this one on particular is about bullying and hazing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5_fwVLKFijY.htmlsi=REYP-gBpmpJb-Hcr
Flash didn't realize that ASL map pool was anti-Terran to prevent him from winning every ASL. Without him, ASL would make more Terran-favored maps, so other Terrans would actually do better.
I cant believe that the two best players of all time at their respected races dont know about this visual queue change in the Goliath air missiles, after the Charon Boosters upgrade 🙃
I don't play bw much anymore but did a lot back in the day, I've watched pro brood war for like 17 years. I just learned this today. At least I'm in good company with jd and bisu lmao.
looking at progammers in general there are two polar sides. One side like firebathero really go deep into theory, knowing and testing all sorts of mechanisms in game. Another side is like jd, just playing the by instinct, just pure micro macro, not interested in any sort of game details. So jd not knowing the visuals is actually consistent with his personality. Though it is a bit of a shock that he didn't knew...
WTF, lol, I'm a completely casual, SC pleb and I knew this forever... that's legitimately insane to me that someone like JD wouldn't know. And apparently all of chat lmao.
I exclusively played terran back in the day, i did not know they changed colors. I only knew if it was done or not because the distance to engage is extremely drastic
it shocks me that he didn't know this. JD didn't start playing until after BW was released, but he's still seen a goliath fire with and without the upgrade a million times. If you played before BW, before goliath range even existed, you definitely know the difference because you only saw non-upgraded goliaths fire for so long that when BW was released the visual difference was very obvious. It still blows my mind that any pro, let alone JD, doesn't know this....maybe he has some color vision problems because that's the only way I can make sense of it.
The gas emitted. Changes from orange to blue. I had to go see for myself in single player since I was in shock that I missed that detail after playing forever.
