Hi, I'm PlasticineX (plasty-seen-x) on Twitch but you can just call me Plasti/Plasty! I stream video games, but this is my reacts channel as requested by my community. If you have recommendations for movies/limited series let me know in my comments or on my Discord server!
The movie is about saving Private Ryan, but it's also about all the remarkable men like Captain Miller who never got to go home and reap the reward of their victory. When you think about what it would take to lead men in combat, he had it all. A leader has to enforce military discipline, and know that even hard commands will be obeyed, for the sake of everyone obliged to follow his orders. Yet he also has to show his men respect, realizing each personality is different, requiring different treatment if each individual is to be reached and made to feel part of the team. Miller had these qualities, plus intelligence, integrity, courage and competence: that's why he was entrusted with the tough assignments. He was close to his men while maintaining the distance necessary to issue commands. Even in the hell of the beach landing he never lost sight of the objective, and his own responsibility for coordinating the measures needed to achieve it. The movie is really about him; in Shakespeare's words, 'Here was a man; when comes there such another?' He was probably a great history teacher, and the fact that a generation of students never got to know this is just another of the incalculable costs of war.
I saw this in the theater on an army base in 19 and 83 and young Jennifer and I watched it every night for the 2 week run to watch every one throwing up and running out of the theater one of my all time faves me being a horror movie nut I'll check out more of your stuff nice job❤
I made a sequel to this movie called "It's a Refundable Wife". The Angel arranges that I never got married. I suddenly had millions of dollars of extra money, my health was perfect, my grey hair disappeared, I was randier than a mountain goat, I looked 25 years younger and I wanted to live again. The End.
So, to clarify the certain scene. When the man was given a Hitler Youth Knife. It was embodied with SA and SS culture. The man was crying because he was Jewish. At the time, the camps were just rumors, leaked info from paramilitary from occupied territories. This was confirmed until 1944 or 1945 when the Allies entered into Germany and Russia entered into Poland.
Can u believe these 2 dorks, Matt and Ben, started writing this in their early twenties, having no idea what or how to write! And someone they knew was blown away, and got a rough bit to robin! And how they got Robin and Stellen to do this, I'll never know! Robin won an Oscar for this! After Robin died, Matt goes back to the bench every year on Robin's bday, sometimes with his kids. The park bench is a memorial now! The younger guy is Casey Affleck! The red head is now in Yellowstone, Cole Hauser! A fantastic actor, but a bit of a loose cannon. His father was even a better actor, but certifiable! Wings Hauser!! Originally, they didn't know how to write the end. Robin comes up with the final line, director and Matt look at each other like, Movie done! He add-libbed the wife farting lines. Matt is cracking up for real. Even the camera man was rolling....look at the camera frame on that scene, it's shaking! Robin has done several top feel good movies. This, patch Adams, good morning Vietnam, awakenings, Dead Poets, and really one could say the bird cage, Doubtfire and Jumanji....which is really a movie about Spielberg's relationship with his dad. In this movie, Ben is actually quite smart, with his brother, with the employee guys, he talks them into the dust! He could do sales, marketing, etc., he also doesn't know his potential. If u like movies like this, and genius and chess and life lessons, try this true story movie about a little boy, who's a chess player. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nDZSqnzXQJc.htmlsi=LwLnfOk_l9eKHlkV
I'm glad to see reactions like this, and that many others are taking the chance to react to both Spielberg's works and Kubrick's. I am not glad because of the pain they cause, but because we ALL need the reminder that what these men in reality likely faced (and the women around them, as more women soldiers than we know snuck in as men to do the right thing) is part of human history. While society(s) have worked to limit, marginalize, or remove the need for us to live in these sort of conditions; it is simply a part of how we all got here at the end of the day. We can't forget what war means. And we can't forget that many people exist today in similar stresses. But we can survive. I will never forget watching this movie on the big screen, without access to a cuddle-puppy, when it opened. As many others have reported, at the end in theatres... Typically NO ONE in the theatre moved. No words were spoken. Processing this in a packed theater with fellow humans bringing all their experiences, history and knowledge took time. For my experience, a single voice called out from the front row. A gentleman with his wife next to him and two of his adult sons on either side cried a single word into the silence. "Hooah!" And then he, as a WWII vet, broke down in tears with his family.
Well this was definitely a reaction video. its lovely to see compared to the ones that sit there stone faced for two hours. your makeup held up well to all the tears 😆
whats saddest about this is at the beginning when the ramp on the boat dropped and they werent given a chance before death that happened like at least 100 times per beach on d-day and the mama part probably about 40 per beach keep in mind there were five beaches going through what happened in the beginning and a ww2 veteran said that this movie is 100% accurate. edit- more than 5,000 allied troops were wounded on d-day the canadians british and americans stormed the beaches 2,501 americans were confirmed dead keep in mind there were 4 other beaches which this stuff happened on too
You are such a sweetheart. I loved the way all the tender moments of the movie brought you to tears. I adored your reaction like I adore this movie. I hope you do really in this endeavor because it's so nice to see people who are genuine here.
The best kind of help is self reciprocating, it is of as much use to the helper as it is to the helped. A tree is made strong by time, storms and survival, a strong tree helps other trees survive many storms over time.
Good... so now that you've seen a bit what the horrors of war actually look like, maybe next time you're in the voting booth don't vote for the warmongers like Bush, Obama, Biden and Harris
The one thing that SPR did not mention was the lack of tanks on Omaha Beach. In the plan, about 30 tanks with flotation devices were supposed to work their way ashore and blast away at the machine gun nests that were mowing down the first wave of the assault. ALL 30 were swamped in the high seas and went to bottom. One more thing is the hundreds of bombers that were slightly behind schedule and were supposed to plaster the pill boxes and big coastal batteries. Out of fear of hitting the invasion force, the pilots felt they had to delay releasing their bombs just a few seconds and every single one of the hundreds of bombs dropped missed their targets and landed almost a mile inland. These 2 things are the major reason why Omaha Beach had 2,400 Americans KIA compared to 38 Americans KIA a few miles away at Utah Beach.
So upon doing some googling the casualty rate for the first wave on omaha beach has been estimated in the neighborhood of 90-95% Most units in the first wave took loses that rendered them virtually combat ineffective.
Rumor has it with the old school hardcore fans Mcready put gasoline in the liquor bottle at the end with Childs.... when child's drank it,,,,Mcready knew he was The Thing and Child's ate him😅👍
I understand that sometimes war is necessary but yeah war sucks. I've never been in a war and I hope to keep it that way. I want nothing to do with chunks of metal slamming into my body at high velocities. I would rather be getting laid. Well and often. LoL
A lot of people have a lot of theories about this movie (some of them quite bizarre). You can find tons of them on RU-vid. There’s much to this movie that is easily missed and you did a better job than most on your first viewing. I’m not going to give you any theories, but I will point out a couple things people often miss that the film is very subtle about; really just for something to think about. Near the beginning when Danny has “blacked out” from the visions and the doctor is examining him - why is he not wearing pants any more? He was when he was brushing his teeth before blacking out. And, just a few minutes later Wendy describes the event with Jack hurting Danny, and this is when when she says was about the time Tony first showed up. 5 months ago she says. Later though, Jack admits to more or less the same scenario involving hurting Danny, but says it happened “3 goddamn years ago”. So, to be clear, he confirms the story about Danny, he also confirms “5 months on the wagon” but makes no link between these two things (injuring Danny and quitting drinking) and says it happened 3 years ago. He has no reason to lie about the time frame. Does Wendy, though? Lastly, the scenes early on with Dick in the pantry speaking to Danny in his head and then explaining to Danny (and us) about the Shining are important to understanding the whole movie. Dick “shines”, Danny “shines”. But, remember, Dick says some people “shine” but either don’t know it or don’t believe it - that’s Jack. We know this because of the audio clue when Danny and Dick “shine”. It’s the same sound you hear later when Jack is staring out the window looking all unhinged. So, keeping this in mind, later on after Danny’s encounter in Room 237 Tony takes over. For the rest of the movie no indication is given that Danny returned. We are given indication that not just Danny “shines”, but Jack as well. So, if Danny is shown to be clearly “possessed” (for lack of a better word) by Tony, could not the same thing happen to Jack, considering he also “shines”. Notice Wendy’s reaction to Jack when he berated her for disturbing him while he was writing. She’s clearly taken aback by his behavior. She didn’t react like a woman who is used to being talked to like this by her husband. And observe Jack when he’s woken up by Wendy while having the nightmare. He looks around like he doesn’t even know where he is. He’s also clearly horrified by the dream of killing his wife and kid. It doesn’t exactly go well with his behavior for the rest of the movie. And at the end when Jack is pursuing Danny he yells out “Danny-Boy”, a pet name he, nor anybody else, used prior. He referred to him as either Danny or “Doc”, like everyone else. Just some things to notice. Make of them what you will.
My friend James was the same kind of dude. He went from gangster to CPA in six months and now has a family. He wasn't the only reformed G on my crew but he rocketed quick :P
