You don't need an amp if you have powered monitors which is what most consumer-grade speakers offer these days. You only need an amp if your speakers aren't powered. Hope that helps! Cheers, Shortee www.djshortee.com

Yes! As long as you're using the KEY LOCK setting to lock the original keys in place, you can speed up or slow down the tracks and still mix harmonically using the original key. However, if you pitch the songs up or down from the original bpm and you aren't using key log, the keys will shift so you'll have to do some tricky math in your head to fgure out how the keys are transposing. Moral of the story: Use KEY LOCK in your DJ software or on your decks if they offer that feature! ;) Hope that helps! Cheers, Shortee www.djshortee.com

hey love your videos, I have enabled the z iso and the ladder setting and exited traktor but the eq has not changed and is still not 100 percent killing my frequency bands? I don't know why it is not applying. if it's any help I'm changing the settings on my computer and i'm using my i pad. Cheers

Finally, now I have a use for those knobs other than reconfiguring them for FX :-D Mixing songs where the first song ends in vocals and the second one starts in vocals, it's hard getting a nice clean mix only using EQ and crossfader. Filter mixing seems to be doing a much better job for such scenarios, even better than just drop mixing since you can still have a smooth transition!!
DJ Shortee, did you had a video where you explain the harmonic mixing? I am using this technology but I don't see other DJs using it. It works with all genres including the latin genres, that are the ones that I work with. Please tell me if you had a tutorial for Harmonic Mixing and using the Key Sync in Serato and Rekordbox DJ. Hello, I'm new to using Rekordbox with a recent purchase of a DDJ 1000. I'm Currently using 5.0 (or some iteration of 5.0). I have a question on cue points. Say you have 6 cue points already set and I want to just rearrange that cue to another section. I'm an avid Serato DJ Pro user and it's a simple drag and drop feature. Wondering how can you do that if that's even possible in Rekordbox. Thanks.

At least I haven't been able to figure that out yet. I also don't work for pioneer though, so I'm not as familiar with every new feature they are releasing. The easiest compatible keys are 6A, 8A and 7B. You can also try 5A, 9A, 6B and 8B. There are other possible compatible keys too...so just use the formulas in the video to figure out the rest that aren't as common ;0) Regardless, make sure you listen to them all together before deciding what works best for ya! Does the CDJ have to be in Vinyl mode in order to advance/"rewind" the track by using the main jogwheel? I tried this on a CDJ-200XNS, and the track wouldn't move at all with the jogwheel; the jogwheel only responded when the track was playing.
Hey Microscope Salesman :0) YES - the CDJ def has to be in vinyl mode for the top of the platter to respond differently than the outer rim. Vinyl mode is supposed to mimic what it's like to control an actual record. Hope that helps! Cheers! Shortee www.djshortee.com
Thanks! As for your Q... Beat Jump is very different than using hot cues. You have a limited amount of hot cues and you'd have to set them up on every beat which would be impossible to do with only 8 cues. However, the beat jump feature lets you skip through the track automatically using various beat increments in an unlimited manner. After producing all these Complete DJ Method courses available on Groove3.com. I've recently discovered that it's impossible to be everything to everyone. So when I try to be all things to all people I'm serving no one and you aren't getting the best of me as an instructor ;0) So moving forward in 2019, I'm focusing all my attention on my area of expertise which is centered around Serato based products. I use Serato the most in my own career as an artist so I've found that that's where I can best be of service to others.
