There’s far too many fighters for them to get paid the same as boxers. They fight too much and can’t have them all on PPV. They aren’t all gonna generate revenue for Dana to pay them a lot. Not everyone is a Conor McGregor in the sport
The business model seems fair to me for some reason. It is based on meritocracy. The only change I'd make is to allow fighters to have their own independent sponsors. I am a fan of freedom of speech and expression. I think they should be able to either choose an income from the UFC or the ability to have sponsorship freedom. I see that as a win win. UFC does not have to pay the fighters and the fighters can go be entrepreneurs. That deal makes too much sense for it to ever happen.
Thank you for watching, and a BIG THANK YOU to everyone commenting on the subject. Fighter pay isn't a straightforward issue, and I'm glad many of you recognize that this documentary was made to be unbiased. I do highlight a positive side of Dana White at the end-love him or hate him, he built the sport we love so much, so credit to him! The next video will be about Robert Whittaker. Stay tuned!
Very fair documentary. And you're right, the people crying about someone else's pay, should shut the fk up, cause Dana politics aside, he a good dude and that's not spoken of enough.
4:30 Uhhh, this is not true, my guy. If the UFC didn't get those cheques from them sponsor's, the fighter pay would be much, much less. Sure, these sponsors do not directly pay the fighters, but the UFC does dole out some of what they make, absolutely. How much, I don't know, but it does trickle down.
The fighters is partly to blame why they are broke. First once they made a big payday they spend on expensive suits where they only going to wear for a couple hours for press conference, then rent a expensive cars , and private jet plane for UFC EMBEDDED then a whole crew of entourage expenses.. Are those necessary for UFC fighters just to showcase it on embedded?
Healthcare?! There is no healthcare that is going to spare you from the chronic brain damage inflicted by MMA, boxing or NFL. These guys already lost, even before they start this discussion! And due to the very own nature of the problem, the more you fight, the less you'll be able to understand that. No one gets better from permanent brain damage, you prevent the problems by not incurring in dangerous behaviour. The whole thing of fighting to get millions, then dying young from brain complications or suicide, is a false economy.
Sounds pretty fair to me nowadays. May have had a rough patch h bit fighters who bring in money make money. Then their able to get sponsorships like commercials or advertising. They should definitely have a social media presence making money off it. Along with other ways to make money as well.
Most boxers are broke too do a special on that too if your not good your not going to make a lot. The good ones are fine. The top 10 in each division are great so don’t give me this crap. Only the main guys in boxing get money
Why are you guys acting like they don't sign the contracts and are forced to do that? They can go to work in McDonald's if they want to, literally. All they bring is mediocre entertainment value to the society other than that useless
Great documentary but I still think the fighters are underpaid. The fighters leave it all in the ring and the damage is so severe when they leave the sport. There is no medical insurance or retirement in the UFC and there should be as much as the UFC brings in moneywise. Dana is Don King 2.0.
just to correct his baldness - when he said ''who out there is like yo.. i got enough money"' i'm good""..??? - Answer - Paul Newman! about 15 years before Newman died, president G.W. bush - reached out to him with a courtesy message, basically saying the super rich will fall into a sacred type tax zone, (maybe connected with hollywood actors not sure) and that Paul would be seeing much bigger $$$ signs due to it. Paul sent a message back to G.W. - saying ''ahhh thank you george but i got plenty enough money'' give it to people who can really use it.(poor etc..) FACT!!! secondly i'd like to point out that yea it's great to see the highest levels of fighters not duck each other, but this prick has taken this school of thought to the furthest reaches of the universe - and obviously does not care that there's this thing called bringing a fighter along the right way, the smart way! i mean for fucks sake there is some kind of middle ground, or at least a ground where you let a rising fighter come up for air!!!! NOPE not with dana, this guy does make a good pimp. He collision course's every fighters scull until his career is on a down slide...or the fighters name is jon jones and he can't find anyone to beat him. That has not stopped him from trying his best though. He has a saying a fighter doesn't say no... riiiight iv'e noticed as he's grown in power, he's proven this to be a HUGE mistake. This guy thinks he has all the answers he's ruined more fighters for this ridiculous school of thought (over kill) than i can count. Yea i've seen him be generous too, but than clam up.. or so thats what a lot of fighters say, so i don't know the truth really but i'm pretty sure iv'e noticed the more dana makes - THE MORE HE WANTS!!!! it's a shame he's not aging well like fine wine or Paul Newman thats for sure.
then who d fook is ilia 🤡 Or Alex who fckd him 3tyms brutally every successive fight 🤡🍑 Or Alex poatan This are crazy ko artist and u saying max what a shame bro Let's accept his previous fight was dope am not saying he sucks but accepting the truth bringing up the truth bringing up great can't go down heads are above mentioned they don't have loss in their career but u bitcazz ruining the vibe
Us fans, we are so used to seeing the big stars earn millions so we dont ever think about those $50K fight of the night or KO of the night bonuses are literally life-changing money for the fighters lower on the card
People like to compare boxing revenue. But even in boxing only the main event gets the majority of the revenue. Undercard is severely underpaid. The UFC is an actual company with employees. They have bottom lines. Boxing is standalone per whatever the main event is.
Bottom line, they need to offer medical care and prevent CTE as much as possible. 50% of the revenue should go to the fighters. Dana is a billionaire and so is Ari Emmanuel . Dana makes money off the worst sport ever, "Power Slap" which is a disgusting abuse of the human body for Shekels, come on Dana.
When UFC video game first came out, some fighters were forced to sell their likeness in perpetuity For $1500 or risk, having their contract. Terminated.
