I have also used sunflower seeds to stay awake while driving. I put a small handful in one cheek and then, one-by-one, de-shell and eat the seeds and move the shells to the other cheek. Keeps me awake!
Dave you could write and perform a theme 1 million times better...AI is garbage and its gonna kill the jingle musicians... What do I know I hate DJs too. Lol
I dunno... AI is a tool, and can be used quite well...and quite poorly. I think even if jingles are written with the assistance of AI, it'll still require someone with an ear and some talent to make them any good!
Great content Dave...A friend sent me the Vose interview which turned me on to your channel. I'm in a local cover band and I've found alot of value in your content. I will recommend it to others in our world....Thanks Dave!
Thanks for saying that, Lane! And I agree... I think there's really an opportunity to take some of the stuff that these Pro-level engineers are doing and apply it to our weekend warrior world. And they don't necessarily realize it... but we do, and can pull it out! I'll bring on more like Brad, for sure!
@@DaveHamilton we were support for a country act last summer and they brought their own engineer and sound level at FOH for the headliners set had to be 130db. It was painful instantly, and we left after the second song. I can’t comprehend why people think the shows need to be that loud. Just miserable.
You guys are literally the first podcast/stream I’ve ever heard recommend Alclair IEM’s. I got my first pair of Tours in 2017-2018ish and I have been screaming from the rooftops since then how awesome this company is!! I was using a pair of 1964 universal fit ears for a long time (and loved them BTW), I ended up opting for the “more affordable” Alclair IEM’s and the quality of sound coming from them is nearly identical to the 1964’s. My customs fit right out of the box, and the audiologist didn’t use a bite block with me 🤫 but he did have me move my jaw around. Alclair is a fantastic company, I always highly reccomend them to all my people.
I've used most custom-fit IEM brands out there, including Ultimate Ears, Sensaphonics, Future Sonics, Westone, JH Audio, and I'm sure at least one more I'm forgetting, and the Alclairs are right up there with them, at a fraction of the price. Even my "buddy deals" at some of these other manufacturers don't come close to beating Alclair's list prices. It's amazing.
Thank God for your work with The Mahavishnu Orchestra. It is my origin story and After having lessons with Al Di Meola I had the privilege of taking lessons from rick Laird. I love your work and am grateful for having heard it, especially "Between Nothingness and Eternity. Life altering stuff~!
Before playing the mini-moog with the Mahavishnu Orchestra Jan talked about a garget that he played in conjunction with his Fender Rhodes electric piano. You can see Jan playing the garget in the video, which is uploaded on You tube, of the MO's concert on the campus of Syracuse University. The discussion also talked about the keyboards sounding like a guitar. The track titled; "Going Far" on the Tony Williams album "Fear of Flying" feature Tony and Jan where Jan's synth keyboard sounds like an electric guitar.
Emerson using the modular as a thing just for the show? Dear Jan listen to the lucky man solo or the aqua_tarkus live piece both are fantastic displays of moog play! I just had to say it😊
He’ll always be around. Tom Petty is the very best kind of immortal. The comment you made about Tom always being there, every day, every night, every weekend, with a song, and you know, it was always the right song for the moment, too, wasn’t it? I think our kids will remember him as they age and grow a little nostalgic for their childhoods, because he was The Soundtrack. I didn’t figure it out until after he passed, when I, like you, felt gut-punched. For a second there, piled on with all the other crap I was dealing with personally, for a second I just thought, “welp, that’s it. Tom Petty is gone and that seems like a pretty good reason to cash out here and move on to whatever comes next…” I even felt like a horrible faux-fan because I was so rapped up in my own crap that I had no clue they were doing a 4 nighter at the Bowl, which in retrospect I would kill or die for tickets to. I took him for granted BECAUSE he WAS always there… and always with the right song, wouldn’t you know it… I am really looking forward to seeing that show someday…
Saw Jan with Mahavishnu in late '73. There is no one...NO one...that has his sound. As soon as his fingers touch a keyboard, you know, and that is regardless of the instrument. He can play three notes on a Rhodes and the sound is there. One of my all time favorites!
back when the “pitch wheel” was ( still is) for expression. I remember waiting a high dollar Oberheim synth just to be able to play more than one note. Jan and Beck influenced that lead tone and style for many. thanks for the memories!
