The Living Room Disciple Podcast | Where discipleship finds a home.
Our heart for you is quite simple-We want to see you formed into the image of Christ. Whether we acknowledge it our not, everything that we encounter is forming us. In this weekly podcast, we’re taking a hard look at our world and our lives and asking the question: How is this forming us?
The Doctors Delony, (John, and his amazing wife, author Sheila) have both given me so much hope....struggling is not fun....but oh, the growth that comes from overcoming! :) Thank you for this! I appreciate you!
9:20 Great point. If we cant be honest about our anscestors then it seems almost impossible to honor the truth and reality of who they actually are vs what we wish them to be. Replacing history with personal desires creates a layer of selfdeception that dishonors the truth with lies. Which also weakens the foindation laid for future generations to stand on.
I came across your channel through your interview with Dr J Delony 💎 (who I found last week😊) After facing major adversity in 2004, I've spent years educating myself & trying to rebuild life but letting anxiety/PTSD get in the way. Learnt so much here...Flipping it upside down for Post Traumatic Growth 💪🌟💎💖 Love from Catherine. UK, England 🇬🇧
Great question! That's where it can often be helpful to have an unbiased third party (like a licensed counselor) speak into your situation and help provide guidance. Check out Delony's website for resources on finding someone. www.ramseysolutions.com/personal-growth/how-to-find-a-therapist
I have 21 yo twin girls & a 32 yo son. I see my girls and their friends having more no-device time than my son’s generation. It’s refreshing and gives me hope they will be happier.
But yea i dont get the phone thing other than passing the time i only get on my phone to watch youtubes when i run out of work and to get free books. I do have an insya set up if I ever get the chance to model and a reddidt for questions i cant ask a book.
@@Qwackdawack just Google the book there's tons of free reed cites I just go through all of them till I find one that I know isn't going to stroke out from all the cookies.
It was a joy having him on! You can reach out to his media team on his website. www.ramseysolutions.com/company/newsroom/media-kit/john-delony.html Can't guarantee anything but there is a vetting process and it can take some time. Good luck!
Excellent interview! I’m going through the book now and this section really convicted me. I was blessed by you diving deeper with Father Ron in this topic!
Great perspective to apply to our lives at the moment! Especially in a time when we have instant gratification and impatience running rampant. Slow down to appreciate each other and acknowledge our connection.
OMG, the lengths people will go to just to read god/religion into *everything*. So, if the speed of love (whatever that is supposed to mean) was 50kph, would Jesus have waiting until this century to be born? Probably not, since everything he said and did indicated he fully expected the world to end within the lifetimes of his disciples (which means he got it all really, really, wrong).
It has become very common now for believers to turn to science as a crutch to help make their argument, In a way, it’s ‘fair game’, since it’s the most vicious opponent of it too. Religious documentation, at least traditionally, stagnated centuries ago, but their ‘gods’ are now adopting all sorts of properties, like - existing outside of time and space, now we have modern descriptives of such historically non existent properties.
The Bible literally says God is eternal. So since time has a beginning and end, then God is outside of time. This has always been the claim. This is not a newly "property adopted from science".
@@arhylle when was it concluded there had been “a day without a yesterday”? That was a human conclusion last century, and will only remain as our best awareness until we have more evidence of a Multiverse. The Bible was most clearly a Human Imagination product - since edited and translated. For firm believers in your most modern conclusion of a God outwith Time, you are presumably comfortable that The Devil possesses the same illusive properties?
@@arhylle The Bible, is clearly a Human Imagined Source of historically truncated (evidence available), translated text. Some guy (fair to say not woman) used the word eternal. It sounds a convenient scheme to help evade biblical critics, though for those ‘sold on the idea’, is it not essential that The Devil also be afforded that same spacetime evasion. With such a ‘godly illusive property, are you still crediting that JC, son of G claim?
@@eddieheron1939 Have you actually read the Bible? If you had, you would not ask these ignorant questions about "translation of the word eternal" and whoever concluded a "day without yesterday". Eternal God has always been one of God's characteristics and the Israelites knew about this and addressed God as such. For example, Isaiah calls Him Everlasting God (Isaiah 40:28). The oldest copy we have of Isaiah, dating 150 to 100 BC, is one of the Dead Sea scrolls discovered in Qumran caves between 1946 to 1956. So no, Eternal God is not a "last century's concept". Where even did you get your source for that from. Curious that you are willing to have faith that the theory of the Multiverse will someday be proven to be real and explain the "day without yesterday" concept, but not God 🤔 What is your evidence that the Biblical events are just human imagination and not actual history? How did you come to that conclusion? Have you proven scientifically that they are just made up stories? What is your proof? The Bible, particularly the New Testament, has been copied and translated in so many languages for centuries, and yes there are errors, but 99% of them are just spellings and word order and articles. The 1% of errors that do affect the meaning of the text do not change the core doctrines of the Christian faith. What do you mean that by using the word eternal about God, that it avoids Biblical critics? How so? It certainly did not avoid all the critics that scrutinized and dismissed it for hundreds of years, making the Bible the most studied and Lucifer (who became Satan because of His rebellion) was created, therefore he had a beginning. Therefore he did not eternally exist with God before he was created by God, obviously. God put on flesh and that was Jesus, who is God the Son. Before He was Human He was Spirit and existed eternally with God the Father before time was created. When He put on human flesh he was subject to spacetime limitations like us obviously, but when He died and was resurrected He had a newly glorified body that is not the same as our earthly body that dies. He is now with God the Father and outside of time again.

✝️❤️☮️, you can't recognize symbolism or metaphors can you? It means if you can't make time for Jesus you'll miss his miracles and your opportunity.😁Become more humble so that when you meet him you may not be completely condemned. All glory be to God, for if not for his father sending down his beloved son and his son accepting the brutal torture and our sins we would be domned for eternity.👍🏾
Am I interruptable? An amazing question for Christians. You have a plan. It's set out before you with stops along the way. Do you ignore the opportunities to witness, to worship, and to serve? Jesus' example says no.
@briandobbelaere3918 sure, because we all know how the Romans will take over the whole world again, then hurl hail the size of buicks, on fire, on its own empire, along with causing earthquakes, asteroids, boils, water turning to blood, etc. Wait, there's more! Then the Caesar will come down from the clouds with super centurions to rid the world leader (himself?) And cast him into a big lake of fire. Then, he will form the nations against himself in an all out final battle and then for some reason talk about who inherits the kingdom of God. Yup, totally about the Romans. I mean seriously, who couldn't figure that out?
I know for certain that it does not mean that people who are labeled "Schizophrenic" should be happy when Priests such as Fr Ronald Rollheiser appears in a video on a tangent saying that all sexual perversion is attributable to Schizophrenics. That only Schizophrenics do things out of lust. I certainly would not put my life in his hands. Many of the women tortured mercilessly by the Spanish Inquisition were accused just this way, they were tortured accusing them over and over again of being a sexual deviant due to mental illness and did not deserve to live, and many of them died from the torture? If Mary Magdalene had been during that time, they would not have believed her claim that Jesus had healed her, even though there was not any direct claims in the Scriptures actually linking her to any deviant sexual behavior or prostitution, and maybe the Inquisition would not have any evidence either, but they would just keep torturing her anyways, and maybe they would know that that was all in her past and she had renounced all of it eons ago, but even so, they would just continue condemning her, torturing her over and over again, and would cause everyone to condemn her over and over again, never letting up, over and over again, torturing her, over and over again, condemning her over and over again every minute of the day nonstop, over and over again!!!!! And then they smile to their parishioners telling them that they are Jesus while they are up there at the altar, all the time for that matter, their narcissism insists that you view them as Jesus. That is probably why Ghandi said: I like your Jesus, but I don't like your Christians, because they are so unlike your Jesus. And Thomas Merton said: When you see God in others then they see God in you!!!!!
If you are looking for the truth, read the Skeptics Guide to the Universe by Steven Novella. If your not, I fully understand why, because I read the book and it helped me realize how flawed our tools are for looking for the truth (e.g. perception, cognition, reasoning, etc.)
Word on the street is "2 thumbs up" is a good thing so does that mean "4 thumbs up" is twice as good?? 😂 Thank you for listening! We're so glad you were able to tune in for this one.
“The elders who rule well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle the ox while he is threshing,” and “The laborer is worthy of his wages.”” 1 Timothy 5:17-18
