brilliant. In my case the seat would lock in an advanced upright position and would not recline.I took the risk and with the seat upright held the levers up and applied pressure as best I could. Eventually two horrid cracks and the seat was free yet would not lock. After letting it roll fully forward then back it was back to its normal way of working. Thanks kindly for sharing!
After spending all afternoon yesterday trying to fix this seat which had the same problem everyone else talked about, I tried this solution the solution today and voila, it worked. I really love this car and I hope good any mechanical problems that I have in the future there's someone with an easy low-cost fix for it. Thank you folks. Have a nice day. Unfortunately, I don't recall what we actually placed, but we had a full rack of cams to a BD #3 and some nuts. I hope you get to climb it because it's a super fun route.
Guess what? It still works I am very grateful I stumbled across this post as I have just spent months searching for a new seat to replace the old one but now I don't have to. THANK YOU!
I’m not kidding. I’m trying this tomorrow. I just saw 2 videos on RU-vid that shows guys sitting with their behinds on the upper part of the seat, pulling the right handle and simultaneously while pulling on the handle they’re jumping up and down on the back rest and eventually it drops all the way down and walla your seat it’s fixed!
Well it didnt work for me. Now the seat is stuck in the slide position and the recline (full position). The slide lever is stuck in the slide froward/backward position and wont lock into a specific spot. SMH.
Happy New Year!!! So both of my seats in my 2003 were all jammed up for so very long. For both seats I pulled both side seat levers upwards and slammed the shiiit outta the seat backs.. after several super slams the seats backs broke down and I relocked them upright or realigned them correctly ahhhh.. wow so so very happy!!! Thanks everyone for the best MINI fix tip ever.
This worked! I was at my wits end, even sprayed WD50 all over the mechanisms under the seat. I was about the to pull out the seat and start taking stuff apart, ever leary of the air bag. Thanks for the tip.
Thank you Roscow! This worked and saved a trip and hassle with the service dept. I expect more of Mini and am quite surprised and disappointed that this should be such a common problem, but thanks so much for figuring out the fix!
