@@LunkerHunter yeah, i used a hot knife thats made for cutting plastic, it worked great for getting rid of extra plastic under the hood so it would fit..

@@LunkerHunter having that PWM makes it just like it’s a regular trolling motor again but the cool thing is is it’s got a whole frame that I can flip up and flip down so it makes it really easy. The top speed is probably 4 1/2 5 miles an hour, pretty scary
Nicely done sir! Thank you for the video, I've started getting into kayaking because of my son, who is obsessed with fishing and I just got a nice kayak but need to do a build like this. Thank you so much
I have that battery box already and a batter so happy because it haves stuff for you to connect if you can use the car jack side or usb side :) My battery might not work out seeing all these differetn mods not one is my battery
@@LunkerHunter I really wish you showed how you actually did the pwm and pully system not just say this is what I did but show with what you did it with. I am not a handy man so all these cuts and wholes seem like they would be hard to do with a butter knife or something. I would like to see the actual doing, because I can't see how you did it and have the imagination of how to do it. Like taking the trolling motor head off is like what, and what cables did you use was it just neg and pos I don't know looks awesome I am lost even looking at how you did it
@@FishingWithDummies78 maybe this video will help more helpful. You gotta have some creativity yourself. Don’t be afraid to try something, even if you aren’t exactly sure how to do it. When I did my build, I wasn’t sure how to do everything, but used my own creativity. You’re smarter than you think! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qau2ndBYcEE.htmlsi=mLZaGu4xgbvVeCW7
question... do you know of a way to keep the battery monitor from the head since I am going to keep battery in drywell instead of box it would be awesome to still know how much battery I have left. Great video I am in the process of order parts now thank you!
I really wish I had someone know what they were doing come helpe me with a setu up like this. I don't want to buy a tiller I would rader be able to go full speed reverse like this. I seen one with a tiller but I was like that is just going to get in -my way
Hmmm...kayak fishing on a budget, so why buy all the extra items? Perhaps just get a boat. So many seem to want tons of camera gear, fish finders, extra rods, fishing supplies. With a boat, you can have it all with room to move around. One or two rods should be sufficient for fishing. If/when your kayak capsizes, that is a lot of gear to lose. The fun of kayak fishing, should not be full of extra expensive gear. Just my opinion.
@@just-looking430 I have done both and I much prefer fishing from a kayak over a boat. It is obvious from your comment that you have never bass fished from a kayak. I’m sure all my bass fishing friends, boat and kayak would disagree with your comment. “Perhaps just get a boat” is a very ignorant statement. Thanks for watching the video, though.
Have you thought about hosting a local tournament ? Not sure if you have or haven’t. I live in Lufkin and there’s never tournaments around here for kayaks only.
@@LunkerHunter I’ve mainly fished Naconiche, since it’s a smaller body of water it’s easier plus boaters can’t really fly by me with all the timber. I also fish Merrions on Rayburn. I wanna give ratcliff a try since I’ve watched your videos
@@JulianRamirez-lf7lb I fished Naconiche about 4 weeks ago and didn’t have a bite. It’s a nice looking lake, but idk what I did wrong. Ratcliff is PERFECT size for a kayak. There are some biggins’ in there!
@@LunkerHunter Yeah Naconiche is a tricky one. There’s been a few times I get skunked haha. Also say no more, I’ll be at ratcliff this new weekend. Thank you
@@LunkerHunter cool thanks for the response. I'm in the process of adapting your setup onto my Sun Dolphin Boss 12 SS probably doing it tomorrow. keep up the content.
Great video and great explanation. Do you ever have trouble with the PWM controller overheating? The fan is nice, but since it is in an enclosed, water sealed box, I'm not sure how much good it's actually doing since it can't pull cool air in from anywhere...
@LunkerHunter I can't wait. I haven't decided if I want to go with your lifting system or bassman and bobbins. I ordered the stuff for both. Do you ever have problems with it not going high enough?
Nice, thoughtful motor mods. I've been running my NK300 motor on 2 different kayaks, one using a homemade hand steering and one using pedal steering. Both have issues. Seriously looking into the fiberglass rod method of steering - I rejected that idea initially but might be the most effective - basically long distance tiller steering!
@@LunkerHunter I tested my Slayer 13 with my repurposed graphite fishing rod tiller steering and the NK300 motor yesterday. Incredible! Great control, no hangups, smooth! No more cable issues! Thanks for your input!
