I love QI, but this is pedandtry at its worst. The barycenter of the earth moon system is within the earth, whereas the barycenter of the sun jupiter system is outside the surface of the sun. It would be a much more interesting to explore that idea than to engage in this silliness. Still love the show, but come on y'all

God made the moon and it is a miracle. Life would be impossible without it. No way it got here by any known models. Who orbits who is relative. What gives the sun it's orbital privilege, eh? We goin' faster around it, but sun just as much goes around us, slower... relative, see? That technically makes the Sun a moon with fewer steps.
No, there is a point both objects orbit around, called the barycentre, which is inside the sun. The barycentre of a binary planet system is in between them for example. Technically nothing orbits "around" another object.
I happen to know this so I must comment for the glory. Cruithne was named for the Irish Gaelic term for the Picts, but this name "Cruithne" is actually the word "Britons" passed through centuries of cultural divides. The Britons were known to have called themselves the "Pritani" in very ancient times. Though the Celtic languages of the British Isles were split between two groups: the P-Celtic branch, in Great Britain (and Gaul), and the Q-Celtic branch in Ireland. As a result the ancient Irish rendered "Pritani" as "Qritani", which when passing through centuries of linguistic mutation gave "Cruithne" in later forms of Irish. It is not known whether the Picts referred to themselves with any such word or not, but the Irish obviously saw them as "Britons".
It's basically a load of crap. The IAU identifies *one* moon, whatever weird tricks the QI elves are trying to pull from their hats to make people believe otherwise. Just like we have eight planets, we have one moon. All the other stuff that floats around the Earth and "quasi-moons" are not moons. And no, this type of question is not funny, or hilarious or whatever. It's just bland.

Best response to moon landing conspiritists is to go one step further and when someone says NASA faked the moon landing just say "WHAT? You actually believe in the moon"
