My name is Chaunda & the name of my channel is Under the Needle!
I am a self-taught quilter from the days long before RU-vid. I made my first quilt in 1999 using online articles. It was tough but I fell in love with the art.
Quilting is my passion and my escape. I started this channel because I was alone in my quilting journey. I have no friends or family in this craft and I needed to be able to share my accomplishments, new finds, and frustrations. Now I share those things with all of you!
I have a massive collection of fabric and patterns and love to share my unboxings, quilt-a-long updates, pattern reviews, fabric bargain hunts, monthly giveaways and so much more.
I’m here to give you my best tips, tricks, and practices in a fun and informal way.
There are no quilt police here! I keep it light, fun, and ALWAYS honest! When you visit my channel, it’s like talking with an old friend. So tune in to my channel to see what’s under the needle!
I do not have any problems with the steam function. I do a lot of ironing, not just small pieces, but fat quarters and larger. If you have it at cotton and you have the tank full of water, you do not even have to move the steam dial. It will steam. You do that for the other setting though.
Hi Shaundra…love your hair! And congrats on tidying up your sewing space….what a mammoth job. I’m desperate to clean and organise my area… can’t see it happening, despite all your hints. I’m going for 75 layer cakes… ❤️🇦🇺

Woo-Who!! Great job Chaunda! Your space is looking very inviting. I’ve got to work on mine as well. Too many UFOs waiting in line and I’m making my Granddaughter’s wedding dress! Lot of fun but I sure know how to make a mess🤦♀️😂😂😂 BTW, I meant to tell you how great your hair braids are looking. A good salon visit is always a cheer me up day. Yesterday, I donated my hair to Wigs for Kids, after growing it out for 41/2 years. I feel like I lost 20 lbs😂😂 I now have 14 inches less hair to deal with! YAY🎉🎉🎉 I’ll take a wild guess at your Layer Cakes to be 97. Your Appliqué wallhanging is very, very pretty and your quilting is a beautiful design for it. CONGRATS to your accomplishment 🎉🎉🎉🧡🧵
Love seeing all that amazing clear surface!! I love a clear surface and so rarely see one in my house. I’m guessing 62 layer cakes. Or that may be how many I have. 🤪
I love Open Gates and Sew Sampler too! I also love your afghans! I like the grey and white one a lot and it would be perfect in my bedroom! I’ve been working on a 2 strand afghan myself. I’m trying to use up all my tiny leftover balls. I’m carrying black throughout the project but using up any and all colors that I have. It is going to be super heavy but I’m loving it! It reminds me of the rag style rugs that my grandma used to have in her kitchen!😊
I’m guessing that I have nearly 100. Yes, I know I have a problem, a serious problem!😀so, I’m going to guess you aren’t near as obsessed as I am. My guess is 92!❤ I need to do a major cleanup myself! You are inspiring me to just get it done!😊
I bought that Open Gate box on the facebook live. I think it was either October or November 2023 and it's called Windswept. I still need to quilt mine.
