❤❤❤ love ya guys, especially you, Paul, for keeping the Hip spirit alive. I will make sure all my childen are exposed to what i grew up with in the best of Canadian music. Love from Chilliwack, BC - Chris😊
Hey fellow Canadians. I miss the days when we had awesome music that was kind of our little secret. Globalisation and social media is alright I guess, but nothing really belongs to anyone anymore and people grow up with influences from around the world rather than from their own countrypeople. Will always love 90s and 2000s Canadian music
I was there for the final show and never though it would hit me so hard but I cried at the end know it was the last time I'd ever hear them live . All time favorite band all time favorite singer , we miss you Gord you were truly one of a kind.
I’m sad for the band losing Gord It’s a shame that they don’t play music anymore. Not as the hip of course. Glad I got to see them several times A Canadian treasure
I've seen so many interpretations of this song but I feel like they all miss the mark. Addiction and mental illness make people form tight bonds. So we remember the ones who didn't make it out.
I find the transformation of the band incredibly interesting over then course of its time. It changed so much over the years but somehow remained the same. You can play an early blues/rock Hip song next to a more modern alternative/soft rock Hip song without a major shift. Its different, but the same. Something familiar.
I just turned 19 this was my first legal age bar show. Much Music filmed it with their giant automobile sized cameras. It was an awesome show I was their with beer in hand against the stage getting splashed with Gord Downey sweat. It was hot in there.
In case people in comments didn't know, they did already release the full remastered concert. But they pulled it from the site again because they're selling it as part of their anniversary package on their website, on a bluray.
Why do we go to see bands live? This. This is why. Gord in his glory, the band sooooo tight but not far removed from the bar circuit - you can't replace that energy, that feeling, that passion. Gone far too soon Gord. You gave us, all Canadians, so much to be proud of. You are missed but you will never be forgotten...
Im just a hillbilly from North Carolina and one of the most precious memories of my life is getting to shake Mr. Downie's hand and tell him how much he and the Hip meant to me. I introduced my wife and said well, I can die now. He immediately told me not to do that. Then we all got high.
Looked up to the Gord above and said, "Hey, man thanks" Sometimes I feel so good, I gotta scream She said, "Chocolate baby, I know exactly what you mean"
Bands today would have to cancel the show and go to their safe spaces for the next 4.hours. Then some trauma councelling and naming and shaming from the crowd. The Hip were a proper fucking rock band
