Hi Dr, I am working on a 3D simulation model to study the behaviour of high pressure CO2 leak in atmospheric environment. I have a question regarding patching my CO2 inlet conditions (temperature, pressure) . I initialize the model using standard initialization > all zones. This is how I patched my inlet conditions. Could you please advise if this is the correct way of doing this? how do I then patch my inlet conditions? do I have to create a new boundary for CO2 inlet and select that? I went to Cell Registers>New>Boundary and selected the co2_inlet boundary zone. I did not change any of the default settings. After standard initialization, I clicked on patch, in the patch window, selected the boundary that I created earlier and patched the pressure and temperature of the CO2 (50 dc, 5MPa). I would appreciate your advise on this. Thank you!

AsalaamuAlaiykum. I obtained a master's degree in Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Leeds in the UK. I recently came across your company, as I have specialised in geophysical fluid dynamics, particularly covering convection, stability analysis in rotating and non-rotating flows. By no means am I an expert in business now but I wanted to stay away from the field for a few years, as I wanted to take a break from academia and the demands required by the subject. Upon completing my specialism in December 2019, my plan was to learn more about the nature (and complexities) of working in the world of business and civil service. I now believe that I am ready to return to the field however I know that fluid dynamics is by far one of the most complicated fields which spans across the scientific disciplines. As such, I am nearing the completion of releasing my initial paper solving the 3-dimensional navier stokes equations. My initial findings are that these solutions are smooth for all time. As you will know, this is no small feat and my paper will be the first in successfully solving the Navier Stokes problem analytically. Finally, I have taken an interest in some of your work and have recently followed you on Instagram. I will drop a message to your team inshaAllah as I have taken an interest in your work.

@sanjaydheeran3740
@sanjaydheeran3740 Год назад
What's your mesh value used here ?
@fluidcodes-ansys-elite-partner
The mesh was pre-generated in Fluent Watertight Meshing using a polyhedral volume fill. A template is available to handle battery geometry such as the one demonstrated here with multiple repeating cell patterns. The sizing was defined to respect the curvature of the rounds - typically 18 degrees is the default value for CFD meshing. A proximity control was used to ensure thin components such as the electrodes are resolved with at least 2 layers of elements in the thickness direction, which will adjust the size accordingly.

@Xinavara

Thanks! Is there any way to extract bandwidth directly from the S11 graph?
@fluidcodes-ansys-elite-partner
The bandwidth can be calculated from the s11 graph. In the case of defining the antenna to be matched under -10db. a y marker could be placed by right click on the graph-->Add marker --> Add y-marker. then placing the y-marker on -10dB the bandwidth could be calculated from the X values (frequencies) as it is the difference between f2-f1=Bandwidth. f2 is the high frequency (2nd frequency) at which the S11 is intersecting the marker and f1 is the low frequency (1st frequency) at which the s11 and the marker are intersecting. By this you have the range of frequencies (Bandwidth) that the antenna is said to be matched under -10dB.

Something I don't understand. The RCS is the area in which these signals (from the targeted aircraft such as the drone) emit? beyond that they no longer emit? So how do airplanes, however big, get detected from so far away? An A380 has an RCS of 150m2. If we represent the RCS by a circle (not the case, I'm just trying to show what I mean), that's 6m in radius. So the waves would emit over a 6m radius. That would mean that beyond these 6m it is logically undetectable However, it is estimated that an F16 with an RCS of 4m2 is detectable at almost 200km...However its RCS is not as large If Rcs= area in which these famous signals are contained and exceed, why are they captured from so far away?
@Remy1738
@Remy1738 Год назад
No. The RCS is determined by how much radiation an object reflects back. Radars work by emitting waves and than listen to what is reflected back. That happens A LOT of times in each second. In most cases, bigger object = more waves reflected = bigger RCS. It's important to note that not all the waves emitted by the radar are reflected back by the object. So, there are ways of reflecting those waves in different directions so only a small part of them return the the radar. That's why planes like the F-22, F-35, B-2 or B-21 look the way they look. Their shape reflect the waves away from them and away from the emitter. In addition, these aircrafts are built from radar absorbing materials and are coated with radar absorbing paint.
@theone707
@theone707 Год назад
i think the F-16 is detectable at 200km because they used a Military grade Radar, i don't think we have information on a Military Grade Radar detection range of an A380
@patrickthepure
@patrickthepure 8 месяцев назад
@@Remy1738 Adding to that, there are also other techniques employed such as doppler. Even if the reflected power is low and almost indistinguishable from the noise, moving object also creates a doppler shift in the frequency.

@fluidcodes-ansys-elite-partner
@fluidcodes-ansys-elite-partner 2 года назад
This is an example of multiphase simulation based on the Volume of Fluid (VoF) approach. In cases like this one, it is important to well capture the small features of the interface between different phases, which is coloured in green in this video. Ansys Fluent has a really interesting approach, which automates the refinement of the computational grid across this interface during the runtime for better accuracy. This approach is called Polyhedral Unstructured Mesh Adaption (PUMA).

Hi Cetin. Thank you for your question. You have to make sure that your cell zones and cell registers names do not contain any upper cases. Now there are two solutions, if you are using multiphase or not. If you are using multiphase: solve patch my_phase () my_region () my_variable my_initialization Of you are not using multiphase: solve patch my_region () my_variable my_initialization where my_initialization can be an expression or a number thank you and let us know whether you need further information.
