Doing this at night, when everybody's asleep. Being mindful about that... voice might be soft-spoken. I hope it wouldn't deter you from listening.

This is me going through a journey of learning more about different kinds of music, sharing my thoughts about it, and (hopefully) be able to have that conversation with you.

Here's an intro video sharing why I finally decided to start this channel:

I'm sorry I didn't read your reflection before on the personal motivations for making this channel. I praise and admire your decision. You really have a lot to contribute after, I imagine, a long introspection. You have shown enviable courage; I never saw myself having the strength to do so. Congratulations and thank you for being yourself.

I don't know about courage. One thing I've realized is that I am still a work in progress in that area and this platform has given me that opportunity to slowly be more comfortable about it. I think we can find it in different ways... areas in our life. And if you seek for it, I hope you find yours as well.

I guess I don't want to take away the gravity of what people (with the disorder) goes through. Like how "sadness" and "depression" are used interchangeably (it shouldn't). Well, I guess not just that word but other words as well. Another reason for starting this channel... learning how to express myself. The scale is tipping lower on that one. But maybe not too extreme 🙂 Still finding that balance (me learning but still be open and understanding towards others)

It's on the list. I like that song as well. I'm planning a mini series again where I take some songs kind of showing his journey and thinking of "Crutch" as the first video.

You have a beautiful voice. I actually love the hushed voice you used. It made the expression of your thoughts seem more intimate, and with that and your expressive hands, it didn't matter that I couldn't see your face. I think that combination might just give you a specialty area that you can grow in. A helpful hint I would give would be to shorten your review a bit by editing out parts that don't add to the overall picture you're trying to give people. You seem very intelligent, so what you had to say elevated what you were reacting to but too much info can cause people to tune out. Less is more (most of the time). You can also watch videos on making YT videos to help with your technical skills and other tips. Final thing is to remember that this is your channel so do what works best for you.

Thank you! I can understand about longer videos. I'm doing this at night where everything seems to calm down and so maybe somebody listens to this at night as well where the day has slowed down and they just want somebody to talk to or listen in the background after the chaos the day brings (might have dozed off 🙂). Maybe I'll learn that along the way. For now (and part of why I'm doing this) is I'm trying to reclaim a part of me (getting back to reading and learning to express myself more... my thoughts). And I guess talking helps a bit and songs does give you a good prompt to get your mind thinking of things. That's why when I see a comment, I am very appreciative of it. People taking the time to listen to my ramblings and actually share their... your thoughts.

Great eloquence in your words; that can only come from deep introspection; that can only come directly from the Being. On the other hand, Ren, as a reactor says: "Intellectualizes emotions" and I add to be able to capture it in his music, exposing his fragility and vulnerability at that moment in his path. Art is a good catharsis. I suggest "One million Subscribers" where he makes a very interesting reflection on success. I love the table setup.
@LiAndMusic
@LiAndMusic 4 месяца назад
Yes, he does have a way of expressing himself - be open about it. Art does make you think and feel. And one can say Ren does that. I think I've seen a snippet of it. And probably part of why people like Ren and are supportive of him (aside from his talent) is he comes across genuine at what he does and he's also very appreciative.

I know the song and the lyrics; but if you don't activate the subtitles for people, like in my case, we don't speak English; we don't understand much of what you say. Also, said with all due respect, people in general like to see your body expressions and even more so the face. On the other hand, the table on which you arrange the different objects seems very creative to me. He took it as constructive suggestions, in my humble opinion. Thanks for your reaction.

I'm new to this and kind of learning about RU-vid studio. I only know the basics. But I think the automatic caption is turned on and the only thing available is English. I wish I can do what others do. And you're right, they're great at what they do in front of the camera. Very animated. But I know I can't do that type of reaction. When I made my first video, I tried to make a disclaimer and kind of explain as to why. I'm just not comfortable, I guess, talking directly in front of the camera (English is not my first language). But at the same time, I wanted to share some of my thoughts about it and so I find this kind of set up works for me and just accept that there will be some who will not gravitate to what I do. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to let me know about it. I do appreciate that. I do try and make an effort to set up something so at least there's still something to look at (I guess that's me compensating on the fact that I'm not able to give the usual reaction video).

@@LiAndMusic I just watched and now the subtitles are available. I want to apologize for invading your intimate space and your choice on how to convey your observations and reflections. Thank you. Didn't think it would be shared in other platforms as well. I don't think RU-vid let's you know where specifically people are coming from (just in general) so I am curious. I appreciate you taking the time to post here. I guess Ren does create conversations and I'm glad to be part of one.

I really appreciated your thoughts in relation to Hi Ren. I liked how you interpreted his lines in relation to your own feelings and experiences; and in correlation with your religious beliefs. I also liked your calm and thoughtful delivery in regard to your thoughts, your voice is very relaxing and almost gives off ASMR vibes which I liked. I relation to the theme of Ren’s experience, I completely understand why it reminded you of the book Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, it also reminded me of that story. However, it also reminded me of Frankenstein, in the sense that Ren created a negatively monstrous internal voice within himself, which at first Ren of course does everything to fight against, reject and vanquish. However, unlike Frankenstein’s creator Victor, Ren chooses not to full reject his internal negative voice, and instead accepts that his monster is a part of him that he created it to highlight ti himself his own humaneness, to try to balance his ego and help him understand his own failings and self doubt. So in the end Ren doesn’t want to isolate or kill his monster, rather he wants to assimilate him and learn from him through the eternal dance or struggle of life. I think struggle is an important and inevitable part of life, it is their to encourage us to strive and provides a context for purpose. Life is a grail quest, in which the grail is ours to interpret at the end of life’s journey. It is what mattered to us the most. For Ren his purpose is music and his grail is a cup with which to help quench everybody else’s thirst for life’s beauty through rhythms, rhymes and reason. Lifting us all from our weakness in the process.

That's one of the reasons why it took me quite a while to actually post my very first video. But as I mentioned there, I just have to go through it and hope somebody would take the time and share their thoughts as well. I appreciate you taking the time to actually post one. It'll be a learning experience indeed for me because I know everyone of us will sometimes have similar or differing thoughts/opinions but will share it with understanding and respect for each other... and I really look forward to that. Speaking of books. I have Frankenstein! 🙂 Not the original version though. I know only the story through the movie but I do want to read it... what were the words used. I chose the latest one because I think I've heard the 1818 one is quite different. Maybe I'll read the more familiar story first and re-read with the original version. So definitely looking forward to reading it. Which one did you read? I like when you said, " Life is a grail quest, in which the grail is ours to interpret at the end of life’s journey. " We definitely have our own version of it. And, yes, I guess Ren did quench some of those. Reminding us that there he is with all his "troubles" (liked the live version) but still soldiering on.

@@LiAndMusic please let go of some anxiety! Your work is unusual but absolutely wonderful, and certainly nothing to have anxiety about. I’m surprised you don’t have more views, but I believe that will just take a little time. Hear me out on this-while your work is quite different, your work reminds me of Micarah Tewers (RU-vidr). You’re not doing the same thing, but you have a similar out-of-the box attitude and approach that is really enjoyable. Sending you love!

I absolutely loved this, so thoughtful and illuminating. I'm a lover of great poetry, and I hear lines in Ren's works that stun me as much if not more than the best lines of Marlowe/Shakespeare. In Hi Ren lines such as 'Your civilian mind is so perfect at always being lied to' ( the reason why the Trumps of this world thrive) , or 'You've got to kill you if you wanna kill me' (the essence of suicide), or 'Some people know me as the voice that you hear When you loosen the noose on the rope' (the most stunning exclamation of hope) or 'So cower at the man I've become, when I sing from the top of my lungs That I won't retire, I'll stand in your fire, inspire the weak to be strong' (the essence of Ren's philosophy and calling). You beautifully alluded to his monologue on victims and students and I also adore the lines 'it was a pendulum Eternally swaying from the dark to the light And the more intensely that the light shone, the darker the shadow it cast'. This is the work of a true genius, and we are so fortunate to have him in our midst. I'm not ashamed to say I cried and still do listening to the power of this man works. Thanks once again for your beautiful thoughts.

I'm not much of a poetry reader. I probably lean more on prose. I think my brain sometimes have to work harder to understand poetry 🙂 But when I do come across some... I agree, they are very beautiful to read/listen to. And, in a way, Ren's songs... lyrics they're kind of a form of poetry? He does have a way with words. It's like when you hear them, they flow naturally and kind of tug something in you that makes you feel something. Thank you for taking the time to share your list of quotes/passages. I read them and similar thoughts. Well, I don't live in the US so maybe I'm not knowledgeable enough about current events on your side of the country. But I can understand the first quote you shared and maybe think of a different situation. It's definitely hard sometimes to determine who's who (when it comes to lying) especially if the one doing it is someone you have trusted your whole life. When it comes to crying... Almost. But it did hurt listening to it (especially the singing part - cower the man I've become...). I guess it hurts because I was at a time when things are starting to be ok again. And to think, it could have spiraled down. Good thing Ren changed that ending into a positive one. I remember in one interview where he was thinking of an opposite ending. Kind of like what he did in Money Game part 3. When I made this channel, I was kind of throwing my thoughts out there, curious... hoping to see if somebody would be willing to share theirs as well to have that conversation. And so I appreciate this very much.

@@LiAndMusic just a quick tip when you post your video make sure to weave 'Ren' and 'reaction' into the title as most people type Ren reaction into RU-vid search . I think that is the reason most Ren fans have missed this video. It deserves thousands of views. All the best.
