Thanks a lot for the video. Just ordered some sandalwood powder from your shop a few days ago! I've been thinking about what kind of container to use for my tinctures. I've got some empty aluminum cannisters laying around, but I see pretty much everyone using glassware like mason jars etc. I can't imagine it matters much, since I'm planning on storing them in a dark cabinet anyway, but maybe?
Great and informative video. I like to see more in the same style on tincturing different materials like Costusroot, Hyraceum, Propolis, Castoreum etc.

Hello, thank you Dan for this helpful content, i want to ask three question 1. I don't have orris root i have sandalwood powder so can i use this ? 2. In which ratio Sandalwood powder and civit should be used (equal) 3. We should filter it when its freezed but clear me about that should we freeze and filter it after 6 weeks or we should freeze and filter it immediately then let it age for 6 weeks ? Thanks
Why would you remove the material immediately??? It hasn’t had time to macerate in the material that’s common sense Dan shouldn’t have to clarify that…

I'd like to ask that after four to six weeks after, we need to put in the freezer for a day or two days then it will be frozen. does it mean that fats become congeal? or wait for melting to use the paper coffee filter?
Filter it cold. Soon after removing it from the freezer. The fat will congeal and almost crystalize. It will stay behind in the filter. I try to filter it while it is at its coldest. Don't wait for it to come to room temperature.
@@DanRiegler Very thanks for your kindly reply. I have one more question how to filter it after it is almost crystalized. when it become congeal then it is impossible to use paper filter so should I use another tool to separate the fat of civet?
Hi, thank you so much for your video. I have a question. I soaked my myrrh from a health shop in vodka (40% alcohol) for 11 days. When I eventually sieved the liquid through from the tincture preparation, I saw that the myrrh looked strange. It appeared that some of the myrrh looked white, almost like the colour has been zapped out of it. I am unsure or whether or not to use this tincture. I stored it in a dark-ish place. What would you advise, please?
I usually keep a clove in my mouth for a similar purpose. I also notice a calming effect when I keep a piece of Myrrh resin in the mouth. It seems to be active sublingually too.
Making any tinture is very easy. Fill mason jar half full with the herb, fill the jar up with vodka, seal it tight with lid and store in a dark place for couple weeks. Strain... Too easy
Hi. I have never tried making it from sweet myrrh. I believe that regular myrrh would likely be more effective. But the best way to find out is to make a sweet myrrh tincture and personally see how well it works. It will not be harmful if used in the same manner.
@@DanRiegler , hi there! I’ve made this mouthwash with myrrh tincture I purchased from your Etsy store and some I made myself and it has never clouded up like this. Does it matter if it doesn’t? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
