Ground Floor of my house has been constructed with laterite stone now. House is in Kerala and is not of column structure type. I would like to construct First Floor with Porotherm Bricks. Can I use Porotherm HP to construct load beari first floor.?
stone wall/stone basement can hold 2 floors easily.. How is your Roof..hope it used cement/iron then fine. To reduce cost/weight you can go with mangalore tiles.
The bricks are nothing new. My house internal walls are built with the same type of brick but they are only 3 inches thick (75mm) and that was built just after the second world war, I will say that they are very strong but a pain to fix anything to as when the wall is plastered you don't no where the chambers are in them.
Combination of ACC & Poro bricks should give desired strength & reduced weight, & should give proper ventilation for inner walls. And appreciate it as this is ecofriendly. Its colums & pillars that supports the building not the walls. So clay bricks or porotherm bricks can be used in combination. Walls can breeth.
wonderful we work with this type of bricks for many decades the bricks are very good but the bricklayers i could not say the same they did not intertlock the bricks on the joint walls this is bad
