Hey guys, enjoyed listening to your podcast. It was a great race. Congrats to Lewis, although the post race reaction by the brits has been somewhat over the top; George had a DNF, Mclaren killed both drivers, and the Red Bull pace in the cool/greasy/wet conditions was nowhere. Once again, Mclaren gave away a race win. Monaco aside, Lando could have won every race since Miami, and the WDC could be within two race wins. Given how I view Oscar, one could argue that this could be Lando's best chance at a driver's title....if the Mclaren is the best overall package next year, he will have to not only fight Max, but Oscar will be an even bigger obstacle for him. Mercedes pace seems real, however, again we've had lower grip, cool, greasy conditions which I think still flatters the kinematic suspension attitude of their car; their car rolls beautifully, somewhat similar to the Mclaren. The RB20 however, just doesn't do well in these conditions; the car is just so stiff, with a much more narrow setup window when compared to the Mclaren. Max is going to have to "hold on" to win the WDC this year.
Lewis was slower and made a few mistakes, but tbf he did have damage. Check the photo of the hole he had in his side pod. Not excusing him for his Ls recently but ye. Some well rounded opinions and takes here my gs. Was a good watch!
Yeah you are 100% correct. I only saw this on Wednesday too be frank. but i think we kept him at the same value which i think is still fair as he did nothing special(not that he could have but then keeping him at the same value would still apply) nor nothing bad.
can no one in this comments section notice that you are also biased, talk so much about british bias on sky (there probably is) but everyone is biased in certain ways. its your opinion fair enough but most of the time its a biased one (normally towards your favourite driver)
Fair statement in which i also sometimes think about. We all bias in our own way unless we neutral supports. In my case i support Red Bull and Mclaren so it's difficult to be bias. lol. I do hoever believe sky do push their own agendas a bit too much and they don't really try to hide it.
Everywhere people keep bringing up that no moving under braking is a rule. It is NOT. It was but the rule has been put under dangerous and erratic driving. This fact is the reason why the stewards could do nothing about the defense moves Verstappen did in the race. This was confirmed by johny herbert who is know to not favor verstappen in any way and would penalize him if he could. The only reason the last move was punished is bc they lightly touched eachother with a fatal failure of the tyres. If that did not happen no one would have been talking about it and Verstappen would not have gotten a penalty for that specific move. It is a racing incident with a maybe 60/40 to 55/45 fault to verstappen. To make it even funnier. He didn't even move in his own braking zone, he pulled a bit to the left and the natural shape of the track did the rest. . But bc Norris came with a high speed difference Norris braking zone was a lot bigger.
It's great to see, in this new chapter of Lando's racing career that he's not intimidated by Max, on or off the track! I'm disapointed as Max is so much better than how he behaved in the Austrian GP, I hope he now grows forward with skillfull maturity instead of back - looking forward to more hard racing, that's clean!.
i agree with this. It just seems a little childish. I love Lando but I am not happy with how he handled press. I do understand the emotions and adrenaline is high so i won't hold it against him.
You say this but it's F1 and it's been happening since 1952. His style is no different to most of the greats in the sport. It's why they are so "great" because they put everything on the line. If you get into F1, it's the same as getting into the boxing ring, you know what you getting yourself into. It's a risk you take. You can't blame Max for someone dying or getting hurt. It's racing and all racing drivers know this. I can say the same for Lewis, Alonso, Schumacher, Senna, They have all been the cause of a huge crash that could have ended badly, Nobody asked them to change. So why should Max? Thank you for your comment and appreciate your engagement. Obviously I am happy for you to disagree and would not hold that against you but if you have watched the sport for long enough then you would know Max is quite a normal "great" driver if you compare him to what has been before.
Lando had a lot of room on the curb but he decided not to go there. Could be avoidable imo. And yes, they could give lando the penalty for track limit instantly after he outbroke himself by diving in the inside and went completely off the track
100% agree. After doing this podcast, I (guy with the RB cap) have looked at a lot of footage and i have somehow changed my stance on this matter. I know longer believe it was Max's fault at all really but i am happy to accept he got punished so if stewards say it was than so be it.
The only steward with F-1 experience in that race is Johnny Herbert, and he has links with a betting-company. Can you see the weird mix-up in this? It is in his "friends" interest to keep the game as tense as possible...
I(guy with the RB cap) am not into these types of conspiracy theories. There are ethical contracts you sign for these kinds of things. If he is ever found guilty for something then cool but if not then we cannot use this in a debate. What i will however say is that I personally believe racing should be left to happen without too much intervention. I personally believe that is what real racing is. It's the entertainment we want. It's what we miss from the v10 era where racers were all hard and sometimes reckless. I will say that is Herbert is doing anything dodgy, It would be great for social media content. hahahahha SO thanks. This might give me a shorts/tiktok topic. I’m not sure why the British media refuse to show the onboards and analytics. You watch them (they are in F1TV) and it’s obvious Max was preparing to hit the apex, not Lando. Lando was becoming too impatient, and Max’ driving skills helped avoid a crash prior to that corner. But it’s really not that deep. The way the British media are portraying it and the hate they and British fans, one would think I that something serious happened, like an actual war.
100% agree with you. It was really not that big. Out of all the things Max has done that have been questionable, this is the most minor thing of them all. lol. but hey, let them hate. We will enjoy the racing.
I agree completely. Don’t let the ham haters who are crawling out of the woodwork (they’ve waited three years for this moment!!) bother you. The hate aimed at Max is being written by people desperately waiting for the day they can throw it out without impunity again.

But as Max could have avoided Silverstone 2021 when it was Lewis’s fault, so could have Lando avoided this to. There is nothing bias about that. The issue is non Max fans want Max fans to believe their way of thinking is always the only correct way when in reality it just isn’t unfortunately. Thanks for the comment though. Always Appreciate the engagement but I have say that if you watched the podcast I think you would find we were not at all bias. Plus only 1 Max(Red Bull) fan on the podcast which is me (the one with the Max cap) but I also support McLaren and Lando so not bias at all. My co-hosts support Ferrari so there is nothing bias from their side.

The team was not informed about Lando's 5 sec penalty which is upsetting. I think Max deserved the penalty because he did cause the collision but Lando could have avoided it as he was being a bit desperate.
Max had to avoid Norris 1 or 2 moves earlier if you watch it back. Lando dive bombing the inside and max has to make a quick swerve to avoid contact. Both drivers were making aggressive moves the whole weekend. Would have been a racing incident if it were not for the puncture so I agree with the penalty for max. Hope lando learns his lesson not to mess with the big dog by nipping at his heals. Pullling off a legit overtake on max is not so simple.

As for Ferrari. They have brought more updates ( 10 or more @ imola alone) more than the others in the last 4 races yet they seem to have fallen behind Mercedes. Their smaller turbo isn't helpful in high speed tracks like Austria & Silverstone ( & as seen in Canada & Spain)
Guys what a BS... about Max proving to be a true Champion! Your eyes must have been closed if you had any doubts about that. The guy has been an unprecedented force of nature literally since his debut! Of course you are secretly Lewis fans otherwise you would never come up with such an idiotic statement :-) Based on the results in 2021 alone, Max is without a doubt a deserved world champion that season! Let alone the DNFs that he also had to swallow and the fact that he was in the inferior car compared to Mercedes (Constructors title 2021 for Mercedes) Max no longer has to prove anything to anyone and has already destroyed many records. Almost the entire professional Formula 1 scene agrees that Max could even be the GOAT of all drivers! And that fact is exactly what drives both Lewis himself and his fans crazy ;-)
Think you have misunderstood us there mate. I (Graham) am Max fan. To me I don't think he NEEDS to prove anything but to non Max fans nobody regards his 2021 win as a win and all they see is someone who only wins because of his car. Hence the statement made. I am on social media, mainly tiktok, daily and it's the same comments i see everyday about Max from Non Max fans. The statement made is not something we want to happen to prove to us as we don't think that way. The statements were made to prove the world wrong and i really hope it happens. Looking forward to your guys’ podcast after Spain. I was wrong about mercs pace…their pace improvement is indeed genuine. And nobody can now deny that since Imola, the McLaren is the best package.
What a lot of people don't realise is that Checo is good for like 65% of the Redbull merchandise in both Americas. So I really think that Checo is pretty much an old paid driver at this point. And he has the backing of Carlos Slim, guy is good for like 100billion (not kidding)
Agree McLaren is looking like the best car overall and is most consistent. Ferrari can’t afford to take races off if they want to win CC. Amazing race by Max. Best race of the year by far, didn’t want to leave the TV even to take a piss. Over 600 views by the time I’m commenting! If you build it, they will come.. keep up the good work guys.

2021 max was the class of the field by a mile. The Mclaren is the best overall car now, hands down; it's fast everywhere and compliant, with a huge window. If I was a driver and could pick any car going into a wknd, it's the Mclaren easy. The red bull should do well at spain, where its hyper stiff setup can actually allow the floor to sit where it's supposed to. Also, I think the merc's uptick is less to do with the front wing, and more to do with the cooler conditions. The Merc and McLaren seem to energize the tires better/easier, followed by the ferrari, then the red bull. This sort of explains why checo was dog shit at monaco and canada; both conditions were quite cool. nice podcast boys. subscribed.

@@brakeattheapexf1 RIC showed some flashes last wknd, so who knows....maybe he has a little magic left in him, but I don't think he will ever return to Red Bull (unless Max shock leaves). It's hard for me to ever feel bad for a person that is privileged enough to be one of 20 Grand Prix drivers in the world, but being Max's teammate is almost an impossible task...some of Checo's radio clips after a disaster wknd are depressing to listen to. The car right now is just on a knife edge, and if they can't get it into a perfect window, Checo is just lost, it seems. In an effort to gain performance as their rivals continue to improve, my fear for Checo is that Red Bull will make the car even more tricky to drive...
It isn't that Daniel has more benefits. It's more about just seeing what happens if they put him there. That car suits him better than any other car really. He has a similar style to Max which that car is perfect for. He showed last year when he tested the car that he is quicker. Don't get me wrong, I was singing Perez's praises this year so far but the last couple races are starting to show a similar pattern to last year where it just went downhill after a few races and i just don't understand why. I think he is the perfect driver to back Max considering his chances of beating Max are slim but if he isn't brining in those top 5 finishes at least, it puts RB under a lot of pressure.
by the way, i think i said this in the podcast episode that putting Daniel in the seat would be a wasted seat because he is never going to beat Max even if he did find his old form again. If they were to move Checo out, i would put Lawson in there but Lawsone doesn't bring the backing Checo brings so i completely agree with you or atleast agree with what i think you asking in this comment. RB showed last year that Daniels marketability can help the team even when he is not racing so if that is his biggest selling point than that's great but he doesn't have to be in the car for that. Checo brings big money so ultimately i do agree with what i think you trying to say

Best would be to wait for the middle of the season to decide on this. Checo had a decent start but in the last few races has left the gap open to Max allowing Ferrari's and Mclarens in. If it continues this way, RB won't win the championship even if Max wins the drivers. In that case i would say can him. If pulls it back, then different story. I would put Lawson straight in there to be honest no matter how much i love Danny. lol. Danny won't win a championship so would be a wasted seat if they put him there. Alternatively get Sainz in there
Agree with the guys here Graham, I enjoyed the free flowing structure of today’s review! I enjoy the occasional tangent. Haha. I can definitely tell a difference b/w the last two episodes with dirk being gone(more serious, followed the structure, less joking around) and graham being gone(more fun and got into some interesting topics) but looking forward to getting the full team back hopefully next podcast. A good mix is good tho guys love how you all bring your own vibe to the show. Side note: I am always having to turn the volume up for BT, not sure if you can turn his mic volume up or balance out the inputs. Would be interested to hear your opinion on drivers ranked on talent. Say put all drivers in the same car and tuned exactly to their liking, who is winning the race and who is taking last? (Verstappen p1, Sargent p20). I think Piastri has more talent than Norris and will surpass him within 5 years. Being a Danny ric fan is hard to say but yuki is really showing he is the better driver and should be RB #2 driver if they don’t get Sainz( I think he wants his own team and won’t join Max). I can agree with you here. Dirk brings energy that myself and BT feed off. When Dirk is around, even I am more fun. lol. Ultimately Dirk running this episode what purposeful for us to understand what works better. nah, P5 is not bad for someone with floor damage. Honestly i did not get to see the interviews after hence the confusion regarding Perez'a situation. Red Bull in general was a tough chat this episode. lol.
I don't think so. The eleventh and twelfth teams would be team with low budget that couldn't afford to stay more than one or two season. The problem is that if these teams can't stay more than 2 seasons, they can't build a really strong project, so the same teams would be kicked out again and again and the 10 first teams would be the same everytime. And because of that, no team would join F1 anymore. At the end, it would remain 10 teams, like nowadays
We all entitled to our opinions so i do respect yours but i will say that over the years you always see teams drop, aka Williams, Haas, Alpine this year. This happens almost every year. Alpine don't have a low budget. Williams do have a low budget but last year pulled through. Haas has a low budget and currently looking pretty good for regular points. It isn't always about budget in the sport. It's about getting it right. As long as a team has the right facilities in place they can compete. This idea would for sure make the bottom 7 teams fight really hard. That brings more excitement and more to play for. If this is a rule, teams know there is a chance they may need to fund their own campaign for a few years. So if they enter they must be willing to do that. Nobody will come in just to sit at the back, they will have intentions. It's all about if they can get it right or not.
Yeah. I gave Checo a bit of grief last year but i said in the latest episode that if he continues on like he is now than he can stay. and i am a big danny ric fan. lol. but he ust isn't cutting it right now.
