Thank you! I've watched a few of your videos and started my first bookmark yesterday! Made a mistake along the way, but it was consistent so I'm leaving it, as it looks like a planned pattern. You were a big help, I appreciate that.
I have hoarded my LGB’S for a few years now. I started making junk journals a few years ago. I love working with them. Back some time ago, I found a whole set of the Walt Disney books, encyclopedia’s. I bought the whole set and made my grand daughter a journal for her memories. I used the books from my son’s birth year and my DIL’s birth year to decorate it with. I think mom and dad loved it way more than she did because she was just a year old. It turned out so cute!
I know this video is 3 years old and you probably already know this…but you can heat the gold foil up with a heat gun and it will peel up. Makes it so much easier to get the staples out.
I saw the Instagram blurb about someone demo'ing a product and having 3imillion views, but because she didn't do it 'this' way, she missed out on (I think it was around 30k$?!)....... therefore, ya, I'm glad you said no to a free pair of glasses, as that wouldn't have come close to retribution ------ even if they hand bobbined them out of SOLID GOLD AND PLATINUM, dipped in chocolate sauce and rolled in crushed nuts. Though, those last two parts do sound pretty tasty. Smell good, too. And a good crunchy texture. Um.... Ya............ Excuse me, I, I think I hear the 'doorbell'. Ya. Bye.
My two cents: I loathe "how to videos" with incessant babbling. I usually have to stop watching those videos, just watching, (muted) isn't a way I learn. I don't find you particularly "chatty" or babbling. You only tell specifics about your tools/supplies, and you're going to get ALL those questions in the comments, why not just say it on the video. I like NOT having to think about the question for the entire video and can instead concentrate on what you're showing. Also, I like enough info without info overload, and you don't overload. Your talking during the video is mostly centered on what you're doing. You're not talking about stuff we don't care about - we heard a noise, we of course wondered about it, in seconds you explained with a sentence and returned to your task. That's what I like. Because you're explaining without overload as you go, I find these videos to be excellent. I walk away with very few questions and feel more confident about trying it because of your amount of talking and because it's not useless info you're spouting off. I'm not here to be social, I'm here to learn.
Thank you for this response. People hate when I talk through these videos but most are here to learn. I also explain in a way that helps complete beginners. I’ve usually explain things the way I would tell my sister or a friend that I would be sitting next to and teaching them. I admit I do get a little too chatty at times but that’s just me. 😉
So far your chattiness hasn't been noticed by me, I've been busy learning because my teacher is teaching and I'm able to pay attention because she's not babbling.
i seen others say the 1 is a cross (name of stich) and the 2 is a twist. so its cross, twist, cross. cross is always to the bonbin moving right. the twist is always moving to the left.. don't know why they all emphasized that.. just sharing..
This was GREAT. good explanation, perfect speed (slow enough that I could follow), perfect camera height (I could see the bobbins and where they go), encouragement about errors, honestly this was just what I needed.
I to have Murphy(Murphy’s Law)moments like that where I’m trying to get my stuff done to go home on my early day and I get numerous calls and orders seemingly at the last minute or at least the last 30 minutes that I may have to act on.
Good morning, I am looking for face-to-face workshops on bobbin lacing. I am located in Miami, Florida. Are you providing workshops on this beautiful art? Do you know anyone that provides courses on this art?
Hi Tanya, so glad you got your work back. I know how you feel I lost my mojo for few years after a blip in my life just getting it back again now so hoping it comes right back missing my crafts. Love and hugs from bonnie Scotland xx
So nice to hear from you! It’s so hard dealing with life’s bumps along the road and knowing you’ll feel better if you could just work on your crafts that you love but sometimes it’s just not that easy. Here’s to both of us getting back into the swing of things! We’ve got this!! Take care😊
Thank you for this tutorial soooo much. I've come back to this video so many times over the last year and have made my tarot decks many beautiful bags. 💕
This was kind of a revelation to me. I don't know why it never occurred to me to dedicate a sketchbook to a topic like this. I do mostly portraits/figures, so mine would be more like Disney characters, for instance. It lowers the pressure of figuring out what to draw next if at least the category has already been chosen.
I think it's because it represents just one unit of a repeating/tiled pattern, so where those starter pins are is where you will have threads coming in from a different Roseground unit/pattern.
This is very helpful and interesting. I can finally understand how someone can get so fast moving the bobbins. That being said, moving the amount of bobbins around does make me dizzy. Thanks for sharing your excellent video.
Actually, the first bookmark I did was with embroidery/cross stitch floss. It will hold the shape very well, because that's all in the twists and loops, but it is very slippery. Strong, but slippery. So the bobbins like to wiggle free and fall, and unwind to the floor. Clothes pins would help in that case, but I switched to crochet cotton, which is working extremely well for me in my latest round.
The machine you couldn’t think of with the purple printing I believe was called a mimeograph. I used one in high school in 83-84. I don’t have much from my childhood.. but I have all of my girlscout badges, sash and all of my report cards. 😂
Thank you so much for sharing your childhood journal. I am a few years older than you but so many of the things you talked about reminded me of my growing up years! I love your journalling style.
When my father died, I stopped crafting. I was working on a huge cross-stitch project, 75 percent done. I had spent hundreds of hours, but I just couldn’t do it anymore. I had died.
I once did a lacemaking course in Switzerland. They made it so difficult....keeping it exclusive. The teachers scared me to death. It was a pity. Seeing your tutorial brings things back to memory, and I did learn something, I guess. I went to the Swiss course to enable me to identify lace. Wiggle Wiggle makes it seem less stressful.😅
I saw the title and thought "Oh no!" I remember some drawings and ideas that I thought were backing up to the cloud, only to find out it was empty, thank goodness for the portable hard drive I invested in. I'm glad you were able to recover your art work, which is beautiful by the way. Have a fabulous week!
Tanya I cannot tell you how much I related to this video! Things like this happen to me all the time and sometimes I get lucky and others I have to start all over again! I was so happy that things worked out for you and that you have not lost all of your fantastic artwork. I own a small craft business in the UK and I design and print my own paper collections. I have back ups of all my designs on hard drives, canva, and website. I am terrified that I will lose them! I also have ADD and I can tell you that even though a collection can be stored in several places the odd collection can still just disappear, never to be seen again which is devastating enough but I just can imagine the thought of losing everything!!! I love watching you on RU-vid and look forward to seeing you on your next adventure You are inspiring me to make some of my own! Thank you with love Sally xxxx
