hi, i've the crankset but i want to change it to the track version, i've got the 144bcd spyder but idk how to choose the correct bb shell width, still tryna find out to buy the bb
No issues whatsoever! Honestly this thing has been great, it even engages better than new. Still wish the tolerances on the bolts were better but it works fine.
Just got full beak e1.2 wheelset off the alaudark website directly.. I’m in Aussie, got the wheels in hand 3 business days after ordering.. I’m riding Bomber DJ forks with 20mm axle and Stoked they actually include both 15x100 and 20x110 with the front wheel, had not issues or QC issues with either wheel, does state on there site they ship with a “short hg driver” and sell a longer one for $49, my wolftooth rear cog has no play at all on the driver.. I was riding a hope pro 2 evo 40T version and have no regrets at all going to the alaudark hub.. Also I Havnt counted but it’s says 114poe on the site, but I heard it’s a typo and it’s 144poe, either way I hope this brand evolves coz they have good products, from DJ frames to hubs for mtb and also dedicated bmx hubs etc.. Thanks for this review, hesitated until I came across your video..
I dont remember mine personally as i was able to reuse the same ones from my king hub. Use a spoke length calculator online because it depends on the ERD of your rim.
Helpful video, thanks. I've been considering these on my fixed commuter - how far off does it put your chainline with the chainring on the outside of the spider? I'm currently running a suzue promax with a 46.5 chainline and I want to swap them for something closer to 42-44. Also do you have a 1/16 washer between the spider and bb?
Chainline is way off, even worse than the Suzues when the chainring is mounted outside the spider. I’m not sure if it’s intentional or a design flaw, but either way it doesn’t matter too much because mounting on the inside gives nearly perfect chainline. I’m not running these cranks anymore, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t have any washer between the spider and bb. Profile does include a good amount of washers and spacers with the bb though.
profile recommends the 5.25" axle for track bikes which is what i initially got, but it was too short. The 5.625" axle is what you want if you're using their internal bearing euro BB. Maybe shoot them an email just to make sure, but this was my experience. @@ScottDye-t7d
Iam about to do the same but, the chainring goes on top, the spider underneath & thz why you have the spacer the small one goes drive side the bigger on the no drive side. Maybe that could b the issue if u do all that 😅t should have no play.
If you look at the thumbnail I actually had the chainring set up that way from the start, but it offered me pretty terrible chainline. The chainline only seemed to work right with the chainring mounted inside the spider. You're right, there shouldn't be any play but i never figured out the exact issue.
With the 144pts of engagement, I think this would be a great hub for street trials. It’s definitely strong and solid, the only downside is the pawls slip more than other hubs I’ve ridden. Not a ton, but they normally slip once every ride, as opposed to other hubs which might slip once every few rides. Shouldn’t be much of an issue, and I think it’s worth the trade off for the money. Also, if you have horizontal dropouts, this hub does a really good job of staying put.
@@SteezeShop there were lots of intimidating hubs online, also the rujixu with 360 poe as well as 690.... The supplier didn't replied me yet how strong the hub....
i have the same hub and its been 7 months since then with over 1500km on the hub without any problems and everything fitted snugly on the hub so it might just depend if you get a good 1 or not
Basically, a lot of elbow grease! Didn't dismantle the hub, i first sprayed some oven cleaner on it which took off a little bit. Since the hub was still complete i couldnt submerge it completely. Then I put a cog on the hub and bolted it to my bike, spun the cranks and basically made a ghetto lathe. I spun the cranks while sanding the hub with different grits of sandpaper. Didnt get as polished as i wouldve liked but i was too excited to ride. Overall, i would not recommend doing that haha.
To be quite honest, not much at all. It might be a little louder and I’m sure if I was trying to go fast all the time it might come with a small speed penalty. But I never notice it when riding the bike.
