So here I am, returning to a video I got recommended in July of 2018, that is now over six years old. You know, the reason I returned wasn't because I got this video recommended again but because I just randomly had a fond memory about watching it. I was incredibly convinced that it would take me ages to find it (since I forgot the name of your channel - Flanke, sry dude it's been six years since I was last here!) but I just searched "Minecraft Hypixel UHC Highlights 2018" and this video "a perfect game" and your second most popular uhc highlight appeared. I immediately knew this was the video I was searching for - I instantly recognised the familiar thumbnail, title, and upon clicking your voice and the famous "I am going to eat a dog" comment xD. The reason this video is so nostalgic to me is because of the time of its upload date. First of all, it came out at a time my life was much more carefree and l was much younger. Secondly, this video came out at a time when the RU-vid algorithm recommended videos differently - back then, everybody would get more or less the similar recommended videos in their feed, hence the amount of views this video has gotten (this video is on the par with the video - if you remember it - "Can you cast obsidian and melt a sword" which I still don't know why it was literally recommened to EVERYONE all the time in summer of 2018). Today this is completely different - recommended videos are tailored and much more personalised to a much narrower slice of RU-vid users so, while I don't like saying it, this video probably wouldn't have garnered the same amount of attention it has gotten in 2018. Thirdly, I think this video was the first to paint a general trend that was awaiting us in 2019 - a Minecraft resurgence from the "dead" and "cringe" phase it was from 2016 to the end of 2018. At the time, this was the first Minecraft video I got recommended and that I watched in over year and a half and so it seems other people as well from the many comments I've read saying that you are "one of the first Minecraft youtubers who aren't cringe and make nice and chill videos". For me and those people this video got us to ever so slightly remember why we liked Minecraft when we were younger. Consequently, this was THE video that has awoken that spark in many people and reminded them of Minecraft they used to love as children and paved the first steps towards the Minecraft renaissance of 2019. Anyways, I don't know what are you doing today Flanke or how is your life going but I wanted to express my thoughts and many thanks for you creating this video! Rare youtubers have such, in my view, consequential videos for the popularity of a game so you, Flanke, should definitely be proud of that fact. Hope this comment doesn't end up being marked as spam by RU-vid and thanks for reading!
