Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan's janaza was also held here. Its for security reasons. Another thing is that, Wikipedia isn a source of reliable information. It was build in 1986 not 76. Also its total capacity is 300,000 not merely 10,000. 10,000 is the capacity of only this 3 story prayer hall. It has a basement floor too. Google Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan's janaza and see the amount of worshippers this Masjid handled, The bird's eye view of that will tell you the total capacity of this entire compound of Masjid. Around 300,000 worshippers came back then. And the masjid Administration opened up the full capacity of the Masjid!

MaashaaAllaah. I was very fortunate to visit this iconic beauty . Its simply majestic and its memory still with me even after 35 years. May Allaah protect it and its people . Very hospitable kind people i met . Always willing to share even if its a cup of tea. Not wealthy but rich at heart. This video at fajr time is so serene and calm. Its great therapy.
