Unfortunately almost without accepting English written masterpieces are boring as hell. Take Shakespeare as an example he was prone to using a hundred words when 25 words would have sufficed and as for Dickens he was even worse.
Whenever I see the Clint Eastwood film Absolute Power is on I always record it so i can watch the bit where he walks into Hitch's apartment and you see the massive bookshelves!
❤Great documentary! I'd like to add that Dr. Anne Mangen, from the University of Stavanger in Norway has written excellent articles about this topic, based on her research about brain and reading (on paper and digital formats)
I remember watching this on TV back in the day as a kid with my dad. My dad said to my older brother "more face in book and less Facebook" 😂😂still gets me to this day
In my opinion, the most eloquent orator to have ever walked the planet. His ideas and opinions were unsurpassed as well as his intellect. I miss the gorgeous bastard, Hitch’s legacy ensures his immortality. 💐
It's an old documentary but I just have to say that I actually find this show host to be quite unprepared and potentially damaging to the people she is meeting. She doesn't seem to have any basic mental health care professional preparation and hence can come off as totally triggering and too much affirmative, lack of tact even. I wish they would have sent someone else, she seems like a sore thumb standing out there and not in a good way. Was she some Dutch pop singer at time time?
I know that after September 11th, sales of poetry went up (I passed through an airport in October and noted that Barnes & Noble had poetry collections at the front...and passengers were reading them).
I just watched after ending up one video and i was asking to my brain can i watch another part plz after clicking on that😂!🎉i enjoyed it a lot❤️but conclusion from me is that topic of reading books should be there throughout the series just reading books not actions or other things🙄😁
I may be a hikikomori as well? How lovely.. O_O I don't go out unless it is for work, bank, Game Stop or food. Everything else is brought through Prime NOW or Amazon. One can't and shouldn't judge these people, judge the fucked up societies we have now. It SUCKS! There are so many people without disabilities who are more messed up in their narcissistic minds than those of us with actual disabilities, yet they expect us to follow the rules precisely, while they- who created them - break each one. Sorry, but I can't withstand such condescending, contradictive, ungrateful, oxymoronic sociopath/psychopaths. If it weren't for sick family members and bills, I go hikikomori all the way. Normal people make life suck! I never get stressed around other people with disabilities... they never expect anything from you, but your companionship and if you are whiling to help them with bathroom necessities they are always grateful. I can't judge them if they want to lock themselves up... the society is nasty towards those who clearly stand out in the negative matter (i.e. doesn't fit the high standards of that society on what or who a person ought to be and look like). Hikikomori is possibly the only movement that doesn't insult others, pester others or enforce its ideologies onto others like most other movements do.... and anyone is welcomed. That is something we can all respect about it and the people who practice it.
Humans lack understanding of other humans...its just how it is. There is no harmony among humans thats why the inevitable judgement and discrimination..it makes sense why some people choose to be Hikikomori. The less people in my life the better as i dont have to deal with their misunderstandings about me thus i dont need to explain myself.
