does manul alignment mess with the accuracy. I need to 1/16'' accuracy for small space less than 500 sf.
@ConnectedConstructionTech
@ConnectedConstructionTech 4 месяца назад
Manual alignment has no residual but that likely doesn't really matter. It depends what question you are trying to answer. Scan point to scan point measurement/analysis is the as-built analysis and generally is what matters. How vertical is the elevator, how far is the mechanical pipe from the boiler, etc are questions that are usually asked and can be determined with scan/scan analysis. For 500sf, if the registration is good, the accuracy of the overall point cloud will be close to 1/16". Manual alignment has no residuals. So scan to model data analysis is difficult to specifically analyze on one point. If you are looking for verticality, flatness, column locations or MEP installation, you can perform an inspection and visually see if all the elements are off. If they are, delete the inspection, manual align the scans, and inspect again. If the inspection shows most elements are <1/8", then elements showing outside of that are off. Reach out to your BuildingPoint Distributor to set up a more complete discussion/demonstration/analysis.

How should I lay out runs if the slab boundary is curved? Lets say it is a circular area. I have normally seen that the runs should be perpendicular to the boundary (assuming a rectangle) and also parallel. Not sure how this works on a circle.
@ConnectedConstructionTech
@ConnectedConstructionTech 6 месяцев назад
I would refer to the standard but imagine across the diameter 2' short on both ends of the edge. Then perpendicular line of the same length. Then just do shorter cords that are well distributed and perpendicular.

@@JSSTyger I would suggest scanning with the X7 right after finishing. That way you can rerun the report to meet standards. If you do it with dipstick or d meter, you're stuck.

@@ConnectedConstructionTech I use an Axiom Type 2 meter (made by SMG). Very slow process...12 inches at a time.

Hi, If I want to reduce the amount of scan points, can I overpass some scans, and link the others with each without destroying the whole thing? For instance, I want to link the first scan with the forth scan with keeping the second and third to keep the model as is. Is there a way that allow to relink the scan points?
@ConnectedConstructionTech
@ConnectedConstructionTech 6 месяцев назад
Yes just change the 'register to' scan. You can also break registeration between scans and register to another.

Wow, I am finally upgrading from my TX6 to an X7 and T10 and I can’t wait to have all this functionality. Being able to make a DWG with points to reference snapped chalk lines for walls from the framers and for elevations is going to be so useful and make working with scans in Tekla so much faster

You can turn off the self-leveling to collect data. Obviously that and the movement will mean the accuracy is affected. It is usually a good idea to put damping pads down to reduce movement.

Is there any way when you're adding a new floor, that you could select by polygon or a closed line in the project instead of a perfect rectangle selection? Not every slab is going to be perfect N/S orientation, or I have multiple floor section in the same scan. Would be nice to just select by tapping points on the screen, so I know I'm only reading the area I want.
@ConnectedConstructionTech
@ConnectedConstructionTech Год назад
Right now it is just the rectangle but will request that feature improvement. If you work with Trimble RealWorks, you can do a polygon analysis.

No, just in the same project. If they aren't the user will need to open up the other project, if it is sync'd.

export a RCP and insert the RCP into AutoCAD, Revit or Navisworks. If aligned to a model/coordinate system, make sure to hold the origin as it will be in the right place already.
