I never knew much about Shirley Jones the first movie 1956 carousel by Oscar Hammerstein but I love any movie that is musical I'm 52 and watching all these movies with legends like Ms Jones greetings from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Shes one of the last true hollywood icons left. Classy lady, very confident loving lady. Her boys were so lucky to have had her as a mother. And David too for knowing her even tho she was his step mother. Beautiful lady thru and thru
She is so amazing. Her children are so so blessed to have such a loving well respected woman. As beautiful at 90 as she was at seventeen. She is and will always be America's mom. Her sons are just as amazing and talented. Wonderful Wonderful woman
I'd like to see Thornton play LBJ, who fits his conflicted profile perfectly. In my opinion, Cranston was miscast; his performance was pedestrian and Johnson was Shakespearean - heroic/tragic. Surprising that he hasn't gotten a fitting treatment. Billy Bob?

I believe it's "Schirmer" -- not "Shermer" as shown above. Schirmer is/was one of the great music publishing cos. in the USA, found in the 1860's. Apparently Shirley's first agent "Gus" was a member of the Schirmer music publishing family.
Being brought up in the South, film musicals were as close to Broadway as I could get. I'm thankful that Rodgers and Hammerstein adapted their musicals to to screen. I adore this woman. ♥
I am late to the party here, but I'll add my thoughts. I am 72 and when I was a kid back in the late 1950's, I would sit down in front of our record player and listen to Oklahoma and South Pacific for hours. I always thought, and still do, that Shirley Jones had one of the cleanest and purest singing voices I have ever heard. Even to this day, I get goose bumps when I hear her sing those incredible songs. Thank you, Shirley Jones...!!!
