All you need is black oil sunflower seeds and Safflower seeds....the rest are just cheap fillers companies use to add weight in bags and will just mold innthe feeders and spread as weed seeds everywhere. All birds love the black sunflower seeds, but Cardinals and Grosbeaks also like Safflower seeds.

we put the bird feeder on almost top of a tall pole about 6 feet high and added a umbrella top like product about 2 foot from the top of the pole ( like we wear wide hats).. since then squirrels cannot get to the bird food...it works great... I am not sure how to attach a link or picture in this comment...

My dad had a bird feeder on top of a slick metal pole. He put oil on the pole. Every time the squirrels jumped on the pole they would slide right down. Do you have any backup off grid power to keep your food frozen in case something happens and the regular power goes out. Love your videos and your cat. We have a cat too.

Love the bucket idea. I bought a Slinky to try. I've also had great results sprinkling ground cinnamon on the seed in the feeder. Squirrels hate the cinnamon! But does not work so well when wet. Squeak acts so tuff but I bet she's a sweetie.

I had a squirrel climbing a slick pole to the bird feeder and eat all the bird seed also. I used to put Crisco on the pole from top to bottom. It worked well. I’d have to reapply it a couple times a week. I didn’t want to use anything that might harm the birds or have an offensive or toxic odor.

Love it! Remember, don't feed honey to hummingbirds, they drink nectar, so sugar water. Look up a recipe on the internet. I think it's one part sugar to four parts water. Also if you get a Pre-made mix, avoid the ones that are red, they contain artificial color, bad for the birds. ❤

What a game changer in the feeder watching camp! Thank you for showing the set up and review and action at your feeder. Did the parts for the tree supports/brace come with the feeder as well? We also add white millet to our birds' seed. We give them the fruit & nut as well. We find that finch food and the brown/golden millet is always wasted. We have seasonal painted bunting pairs, and they prefer the white millet. Our cardinals are also molting here in SC, we had one last year that we nicknamed Frankenbird because he looked so bad. Thanks again for the videos, we really enjoy watching them.

Omgosh my cat LOVES bird and squirrel videos. She's 100% indoor (we live in a neighborhood that isn't very safe for wandering animals) so she only sees birds from the window or from videos. I'll have to have her take a look. Maybe I should buy one of those feeder cameras for her.

I love it! The picture is so crisp, and the sound is too. What a nice design. The black sunflower seeds are like Filet Mignone to birds and usually first to go. The suet will be appreciated in the cold weather. Great location for viewing. I personally enjoy hearing the bird sounds, but music is nice also. Watching has made my blood pressure go down. Thanks for the relaxation time.
