The green, red, white, and black colors of the Stratocaster he sometimes uses now are puposeful, because he's been thoroughly misinformed by his wanker friend, Roger Waters. Earlier in Clapton's career, he spontaneously expressed his true feelings about immigration in the UK. He was roundly, whether or not rightly, criticized. He apologized. Now, instead of knowing and speaking his thoughts/beliefs he depends on others for safe, "accepted," popular political expression. Regarding the colors mentioned, Clapton is obliviously and shamefully off the mark.
I very much appreciate everyone's loyalty to Eric. And i myself being a die-hard Clapton fan i just have to say that to call his modern-day performances phenomenal, spectacular etc is a huge understatement. The fire is out. The deterioration has sadly been present for over a decade now. He is no longer worth those ridiculous prices of admission anymore. And it hurts me to say this but i'd rather see him retire from touring and keep his dignity.
EC suffered a serious neurological condition in 2015 which led to a loss of feeling in his fingers and a considerable doubt whether he would ever be able to play again. As someone who has followed his career for over 50 years, there's no doubt that the brilliant fire that characterized his playing disappeared from his playing after the Dominoes disbanded. However, that doesn't mean that he hasn't reached similar high levels in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, albeit sporadically, often depending on the musicians he was playing with who pushed him harder. He remains a fluent guitarist and a soloist of extraordinary touch, and now almost 80, one wouldn't expect him to play with the same fire as he did 50+ years ago. If you cannot find anything positive in his musicianship, save your vitriol for someone who deserves it.
No misunderstanding. Your point has been made. Still doesn't change the facts of mine. Don't know about you but i don't want to see him end up like Chuck Berry did when it was all said and done. Because if you heard Chuck Berry in the end you would understand what i'm talking about.
