There is a new update for STTNG (LX-8) which among other fixes etc. now allows you to randomize the caves in the holodeck simulation. Free to download.
I always wanted to add this game to my collection of 40+ machines, but never came across a nice enough original condition machine in excellent shape that would blend in with the rest of my line up. Gottlieb only made a couple of games with four 3” flippers, which to me make for a great player. I have a Gottlieb Big Hit that has the Four 3” flipper arrangement and absolutely the game. Thanks for sharing this awesome video on the terrific player!
Cool, first thing first would be to make sure you acquire or have the AAB module installed (this is an extra relay that Bally sold for the machine back in the day.. some have it, some don't). I needed to build my own. Next I believe it is a matter of just configuring the machine for AAB mode, and then if memory serves, I just moved the special relay on the planet stepper to kick in with each planet step?
Can you do a video showing off how it all goes together? I'm looking at printing one of these out and both my friend and I are...confused. Pics would be helpful too haha
Thanks @donspinballpodcast I noticed I neglected to link to the project, so I've updated the description. There are more photos there. Hopefully that helps, basically three parts: 1) a base which should align at least two of the original screw holes 2) a light diffusing flat piece over top of it (this should be printed in white), the original photo graphic should fit on top of this 3) a outside baffle piece which should friction fit to the base, sandwiching the light diffuser and photo. It's probably overly complicated, but I kept needing to refine things as there were many unexpected challenges. I'll do some better videos of the installation if you are still interested, once I get some energy back to stream.. going to need to get some STTNG LX9 footage up soon :)
Definitely correct. Haunted House sound ROM’s wouldn’t even work on Totem, as it’s a System 80A. Some of the tunes here are also quite identical to the ones in haunted house.
It is indeed a game of skill. Really enjoyed you guys playing this. With my fave old game -- Spin Out -- I could win up to 9 games in a single game. At the time I was playing it (50 years ago) I had no money, so being able to win games was important. As you say, the operators probably lobbied to change how many games were given out, with things like ball save giving more value to the worst players.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. It's fun for me to look back on some of these games we had pass through our collection. Wish I could keep them all (space and $ being the hardship), but it has been fun to have the opportunity to cycle so many over the years. Glad to have a system 1 still in the line up, we have a nice Totem which was should hopefully get some gameplay of soon.
That right flip needs some love... He's made the necessary adjustments, which is impressive. But thing looks pretty limp (which I used to hate), not possible to dig any close ones out of center drain - so frustrating
