@@ShanghaiGoat Yes I agree, I can do w/o the cyclops. Tbh, the red font on the date wheel was poor choice bc it makes the date hard to see clearly agains the black background. Even with the cyclops it the date has poor visibility. Overall the watch is solid and very comparable to the new Tudor BB GMT.
I’ve got several higher end watches but this one still hits the mark in a way few watches do. Accuracy wise, mines running at about -6 seconds a day. No complaints there. I put it on a Hirsch honey colored strap and it looks terrific
Hi there. Good question. I haven’t seen it…but I suppose that it would over a looong period of time. If we’ll kept it could stay in great condition for a long time. Cheers!
These are the Seiko OEM silicone straps. The black from the SPB147 and the blue from the Willard. These straps are the best Rubber straps Seiko has ever made IMO.
IMO, rarity aside, both the 033 and 035 are still worth the asking prices for a BNIB up to what a BNIB Sharp Edge would go for. Build quality and specs are comparable while aesthetics are subjective of course. The SARB suffers from the fact that they were inexpensive first launched so there is an understandable mental price hurdle. The SARBs will be legendary in time.
I enjoy wearing both. The 143 is more versatile for everyday wear with the black and grey colours and the 213 is a little more refined with the shiny blue bezel and silvery white dial. I’m looking to add the royal blue SBDC163 or either the SPB421 or SPB419 to the collection in the future.
Thanks for the Great question! This is a GMT watch. Which means it can measure multiple time zones using the GMT hand (red hand) and the bezel. Your local time is measured by using a 12hr scale by the circle markers (indices) within the dial. The second time zone is measured using a 24hr scale using the Red GMT hand as your hour hand and the 24hr markers on the bezel (1 - 24), with the 24th hour being at the top. This particular version can track 3 time zones because the bezel moves forward or backwards but I will keep it simple for now. Hope this helps. Cheers.
I've noticed another difference appears on the lower crown guard outer edge, where it's machined to a different profile from the original Seiko design. O and I've got a genuine SKX007 bought second hand, but the previous owner changed to a black/red Pepsi-style bezel insert which I prefer (despite the prominent pip - grr). I could change it back to the original all black one of course, but hey, it's not for sale :)
I love my 017, 033, and 035. All keepers. The 033, and 035 share so many design elements to my snowflake. I sure you made someone very happy with their new SARB.
Thanks for the comment. Indeed…..the case and dials were like baby Grand Seikos. Perhaps I made a mistake selling, but time will tell If I end up regretting. If you currently own them, keep them, enjoy them! Cheers!
Yes if you already own this, it’s totally worth having in your collection. However for someone looking to buy this is 2023, I am covering the question if it’s worth paying the current market prices….Cheers!
just got to the part where you sold them 🤣🤣 HUGE mistake. For the little money you get by selling themunder 1k, definitely not worth selling such timeless classics. Might as well keep it. Youll regret it 5-10 years from now, dont worry 😉
YES sir! Definitely still worth it. Seiko doesnt make watches like the SARB anymore. This is like asking the question is the submariner still worth it? The sub will ALWAYS be worth it. The SARBS will ALWAYS be worth it. These watches are GOAT'ed in time. Weve made so many memories with the SARBs by now too. The signed crown, the dauphine hands, the needle seconds hand, the beautifully beveled case, ghe perfect dimensions , the tasteful font, I could go on and on. The SARBs are legends.
Just got mine for 500 usd and as an extra the previous owner included an unworn Uncle Seiko jubilee as well as the original bracelet , box and papers. Totally worth it from my point of view . Advertised as having light scratches, nothing that a quick polish with Cape Cod couldn’t handle .
Glycine makes some nice watches. I like their design language and style. But I just can't get myself to buy one. From a distance they look really beautiful. But when you inspect it more closely, you notice that the dial looks cheap. I don't know if it's the flat black of the dial, or the simple logo and font, or the writing that looks cheap. Like it was just printed on there with a printer. If they would just improve the appearance of their dials, they would be selling more watches. Imagine that watch with a sunburst dial, like the ones you can get on Seiko dive watches.
This watch does have a lot of wrist presence. I purchased the non small second version last week. Compared to the current aquis model, the bracelet is 1 mm wider and quite a bit thicker, the ceramic bezel has a satin rather than high polish finish and the crown guards are more upright than in the current model. While the current aquis feels upscale and refined, this iteration is definitely a heavy duty tool watch which is nonetheless quite wearable. In fact, the wider bracelet gives the illusion of a smaller watch, despite its 43.5 mm size.
Well said and I agree with you. All the Aquis models wear smaller than their actual size. I have since sold this watch as I felt it was too big for my taste. As for divers, I'm into more of the 40-41mm range. Thanks for the comment, Cheers!
