Im looking at the Valencia and the magenta refurbished on your site. Why does the Valencia cost more than the Magenta even though the Magenta does more and is more modern? Im trying to decide between the two.
The vibration pump is still quite noisy. For me a big let down. Very little has been changed except for the brush stainless steal finish. Quite laborous to make a cappuccino. Because you have to purge the steamwand twice in advance in order to get decent milk foam.
I clicked your link. It shows a silver/stainless machine. Your video has multiple colors. Are the colors still available or just the silver? Also, I am a newbie and see a lot on bottomless portafilters. Why is a pressure portafilter used with pre ground coffee beans, but fresh ground beans don't use the pressure insert? New Subscriber with tons of learning needed and question, but that'll do for now.
I have used Dezcal for years. I was able to buy the 31oz powder for $13.41 in 2019. Today (2024, Bidenimics in effect) the price has increased over 123%, to $29.98. I still buy Dezcal, but I call BS on the 4% inflation numbers this administration has been claiming. Inflation is really 30x what we're being told.
Hi E, Manufacturers in most cases recommend against end users descaling their espresso machines. It's not that it can't be done but can cause problems if done incorrectly. The best course is to filter water to lower the calcium content so scale does not form in the first place.

@@Wholelattelovepage Hi thank you for such a rapid response, your customer service is fantastic. Yes, I do filter my water but I was just thinking it may be good to just descale as part of an annual maintenance process. I will take your comments on board and perhaps just do a backflush using some cleaning powder or liquid.
With this grinder, will you give a range of settings that you recommend for various coffee types similar to what you did for the original Life? I'd like to buy just one grinder and use it for Aeropress and drip coffee as well as espresso so would like some guidelines on recommended settings
Hi there. There is a chart on the product page on our website for suggested settings for different brew methods. You can find it here : www.wholelattelove.com/products/ceado-life-x-coffee-grinder --BRYAN
Unfortunately, my Gaggia Brera is not resetting from the red triangle. It's endless blinking no matter how many times I repeat the first step in this video.
Hello, I understand that I’m asking off topic... But still... Tell me how to enter the service menu Gaggia Cadorna? I really hope for an answer. Thank you.
Was the hopper design changed in any way? Some reported that beans got stuck in the small funnel, leading to inconsistency in the amount of coffee without weighing... Not sure if you experienced the same
Hey don, thanks for the comment! You can find a bunch of Synchronika specific videos in our support center: support.wholelattelove.com/hc/en-us/sections/1500000400302-ECM-Synchronika
You cannot dechlorinate municipal water by letting it sit open for 24 hours because most water authorities don't use chlorine they use chloramine which is chlorine gas; it's not removable without chemicals
Hey Jimmy, How are you frothing? If using a machine what make and model? Does your machine have a standard commercial style steam wand or maybe an auto-frothing pannarello type. Foam that's too thick usually means to much air has been added during steaming/frothing. Since auto-frothing wands automatically inject air if you're using one of those it's not unusual to get too much. If using a manual wand you want to get a little air in at the start of frothing then position the wand tip deeper into the milk to stop the air and continue the mixing and heating.
I guess "they just don't make them like they used to" holds true for this. I have a Solis maestro that I have had for many years and never had any static issues. I needed another coffee grinder for my Idaho cabin. My wife got a used Baratza encore at a killer price. It is basically the same coffee grinder as the Solis. But, the static is crazy. Next time I'm at the cabin I will try this trick. Thank you.
We be slow-juicing the ginger works, add them to the coffee, and be adding other stuff like cinnamon or turmeric, maybe even some honey. Should work, me thinks.
Bought a Gaggia Brera refurbished from WLL. $300 well spent. Arrived in like new condition. Had a user error issue which their customer service group resolved for me via email in short order.
Is this machine newbie friendly, durable and can last for a very very long time? I’m type of person who hate to buy/upgrade stuff in short term. Damn, from cheap lesser than $500 chinese espresso machine to $810 Rancilio Silvia and to this $1100 machine here in Indonesia. I’m so confused which option should I take with lesser hassle in the future. The Silvia is pretty ok for starting point but I dont trust enough to mod that machine. Im afraid it will make the machine dont last long enough because the mods mess with the internals.
The compressed air tip is no joke. I dissassembled my machine after descaling, and every part of the solenoid was visually clean. Turns out my issue was 100% due to blockages within the channels connecting the solenoid to the boiler (8:57). Even letting it sit in descaler didn't fix it; a can of compressed air, straight down into the small holes did the trick!
Hi! I just got a brand new machine and during the first priming, it gives me a code 5 and after replacing the water several times, it does not go away. Any idea how to fix this?
Hi g, sorry you are having issue. Did you try the fix in this video at 14:30ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OCsdC9ZSu3c.htmlsi=nRaYVQemVq-k6K1r&t=859 ? If so and still having trouble please contact our tech support here for additional assistance: www.wholelattelove.com/pages/contact-us
According to your filter adaptor product page, the BWT Bestcup Filter Adapter will no longer work with the Profitec (as of the 2024 water tank update). ??
What is the best machine for coffee and espresso? Is americano the same same thing as coffee? I’m struggling in my google searches. I just want fresh coffee form the grinder beans automatically done
Hi JJ, Best depends on your needs. For me, my favorite is the Gaggia Accademia. Great combo of features and value and one of a very few machines with metal housing and I do like the glass front and touchscreen. The Americano is what many more particular coffee drinkers prefer to standard drip coffee. It is the combination of espresso and hot water. It features a flavor that's truer to the bean.
Hi guys, really great video and helpful for me - I’ve now had my Silvia Pro X for about 3 months and living in London where the water is very hard, am concerned about scale build up in the boilers - what is the process for descaling? And what descaler would you use?
After a little research I was going to empty the boilers (F3&F4) and the tank, then fill the tank with descaling solution, let the boilers refill and leave overnight. Does that sound reasonable to you guys? Would very much appreciate your advice….
Hi tc, Thanks for the question. Manufacturers recommend against home users descaling dual boiler machines. A couple of reasons... first it's risky. If there's scale in a boiler it can break up during descaling and not fully dissolve. Chunks of scale can then plug up other areas of the machine. Second issue is fully filling the steam producing boiler with descaler. The steam boiler has empty space (headroom) at the top of the boiler which never fully fills with water. Scale can form at the water air interface within the boiler. Since the boiler does not fully fill it can't be properly descaled or rinsed after descaling. There are ways around that like disabling the water level sensor in a steam boiler but those should only be done if one really knows what they're doing - read by a professional machine tech. There's a risk of damaging a machine if not done properly. Unless Rancilio has changed something the machine ships with a BWT Bestsave in-reservoir pad filter. When used as directed it prevents scale by reducing calcium level in the water. Best practice is to treat water used in the machine with that filter or other similar option to prevent scale in the first place. If you believe your machine has scale deposits I advise professional service.
Hey Marc and Ted - much appreciate the educational value of your videos. Unfortunately you don't ship to Australia so I cannot repay you by being a paying customer . I had a fuse blow and so ordered a replacement. I haven't yet replaced it as I was concerned it might blow again. I had previously cleaned out solenoid valve following Marc's excellent video but am concerned I had done something wrong when re-assembling that caused the fuse to blow. Are there any checks I can do prior to trying the new fuse ?...Many thanks again Marc for a fantastic RU-vid channel
Hey carlo, Thanks for the kind comment. You might recheck the wiring and make sure everything was connected properly. Sorry it's hard to be more specific. It is a thermal fuse so in most cases it goes due to heat - boiler getting too hot. Marc
Hi d, Showing pressure in the system after extraction is common and normal. System pressure is measured very close to the pump and behind a one way valve which holds some pressure.
Hello. I have Sage Barista Pro as well and I have this question: is it even possible to make ideal 2:1 espresso without watching the scale all the time and with a finger on the turn off switch? Given that I have the same dose and grind. Thank you. Tomas
Thank you for the explanation of the flush! I could not find it in my GO manual or anywhere else. Keep the information coming. BTW my GO without quick heat takes 10 min to 200 degrees, love it.
As always, a great review. I bought my Jura S8 back in December 2019 and used your review as part of my research. Yoir videos are always very thorough and you take the time to respond to comments. My daughter recently bought an eno8 because it was narrower and a couple of weeks ago I saw your original video so was pleasantly surprised to see you've just uploaded this one! You couldn't have timed it better! The only thing I'd say about the eno8 is that its quite expensive for what it is compared to the S8 for just a bit more money and that it only produces milk foam rather than both steamed and foam which means theres no real latte option. When i do a latte for example, I have it mainly steamed, finished with foamed milk which i can adjust on the milk attachment. I don't understand why jura couldn't have used the same attachment.
Hey paul, thanks for the comment and sharing your experience and your daughter's. With changing of milk/coffee prep order on the latest ENA 8 there's a much different appearance and mouth feel when you compare milk first drinks like cappuccino to espresso first drinks like a flat white. Marc
1. grind coffe coarser than you would with other machines as this one as it comes out the factory, has 15bar pressure that is too hight if you use typical grinding. You can change later the safety valve spring and put one that open at 9 bar then you can use finer grinding. 2. don't use small pot for gettting froth. Use a larger one where milk can rotate fast and keep the nozzle close to che surface with the two openings spitting parallel to the edge of pot. (no offense but in the video I see no froth but just a little foamy milk. if that's what you want it's ok but that's not a cappuccino. 3. when the water for making froth is almost ready - it requires around 30 secs - open the valve by the side knob and let the initial liquid water out into an empty container to discard it: you want only the vapour. 4. keep the portafilter CLEAN as much as the fixed filter from where water comes down and the nozzle for milk. Clean the fixed filter with a sponge with cold water then let some water fall into a glass or a container. I do it EVERY time I use it. 5. if you want the preinfusion: turn the machine on with portafilter filled with coffee powder. when the center light is on, turn on the steam button for the froth for around 10 secs - this increase the temperature of the water -. turn it down. put a glass under the nozzle for milk then open a little the sideknob AND turn the center button on for erogating water: it will happen that you won't see coffee coming down, only some water from the nozzle but a little hot water is preinfusing coffee. after 4 seconds close complly the nozzle with the knob then you'll see coffee coming down. I usually prefer e very long coffee and I keep the erogation on for around 15 seconds: if you like it like me you'll see that center led turn down during the erogation as temperature drops down. you can use the trick of raising the temperature before the erogation as I wrote above, but turning the right button for making steam on for a few seconds. Other wise you can always stop the erogation as soon as you see the center led turn off and start again when it turns on.
