The Earth Gods is the only one i really listened to. how about throwing in an eq rack to the setup and cleaning up The Earth Gods for us, please. I see you you have an amp here to do some rudimentary stuff but add in an EQ !
Interesting about The Earth Gods. That's my least listened to album by Lilitu, but I'll see what I can do. Any specific song you were thinking about. Very unlikely that I would get an EQ. All the records I listen to are with no EQ and CDs I can manipulate EQ settings on my amp. Actually heading out next week to the same music festival where I first met the guitarist, so it'll have to be after I return.
Sat on our throne On the top of the mountain In the nightside of the world Under a crown of stone We the doomed To our boulders we are chained We accursed Turned to stone We accursed Shackled to our thrones We accursed Bound to each other Shackled by hatred Shackled to our thrones Turned to stone We the enchanted We lost, we lost our lives Cast in the mould of death Forfeit what was dear to us Gave away our hearts and sealed our fate Our fate We accursed We accursed Forfeit, what was dear to us Gave away our hearts and sealed Our fate We accursed Turned to stone We accursed Shackled to our thrones We accursed Bound to each other Shackled by hatred Shackled to our thrones Shackled to our thrones
It is a thin mouse pad that I cut and doubled up. It did raise the motor which worked for me. After I switched out my pulley and went from a single belt to three belts, the belts were not staying aligned in the grooves on the platter. Once raised I haven't had any issues with that, plus now I have additional dampening for the motor.
Never heard of this band, but I really enjoyed this track. How is the rest of the album? Also I was going to ask where was UDO in this track but about the 4 minute mark he came in.
When I was listened to the entire cd the other day, I actually thought about you. I know that you like a lot of melodic heavy metal and figured this vocalist would be someone you would enjoy. The whole album is good.
Love this song. If you had to choose between the Umami red and DS003 which one would you pick? I’m interested in the DS003 but don’t know if it would be a good all around cartridge.
I'd probably pick the DS-003. It sounds great with all of the various genres I listen to. Only downfall is that it has it's own dedicated phono stage therefore cost will be higher. Running 2 carts I have 2 phono stages, the DS and the Modwright. You can't really go wrong with either, but the DS is probably my favorite. I also have an Ortofon Cadenza Black mounted to my Technics. The Ortofon was at one point on the VPI turntable. The Ortofon and the Hana are a toss up to me. BTW, thanks for watching.
Thanks for your reply. I think it would be a good time to get the DS003 as I got rid of my phono amp last time I got out of vinyl so I have to buy one anyway. Love your setup. Before this I was focused on buying a more expensive turntable to accommodate two arms. With the Tru Glider I can grow into that scenario with a good but less costly turntable.
Love some of her songs. You know me, I move around to different genres. Not really a fan of her latin stuff though. The album Stripped just might be a desert island album for me based on the variety of it (desert island meaning I had about 50 albums or more)
I had a lifesize Ace life size poster that my friend Al Frietag in Salem, OR, drew when I grew up with at Leslie Jr High in Salem. I wish I still had that to show Ace❤
Haha, I can see what you mean. His singing left a lot to be desired, but it was a pretty fun show. The song choices and the crowd enjoyed it. Plus he has a comedian aspect to him that was enjoyable.
Thanks for the video. Been thinking about getting one of these. You sound from your accent that you are from my neck of the woods, North Carolina. I also have the VPI Signature21 in RW, and the Integrity Tru-Lift and Kleen Sweep. Great products so you have good taste too😀 Love the music videos Keep it up.
I am from the East Coast but a little North of you in MD. Not sure if you are a member of the I Love My VPI Facebook group, if not check it out. I post there as well.
I had to choose between upgrading my turntable to a VPI Signature DS (currently have a MoFi Ultradeck), or upgrading my cartridge to an Umami Red, I figured the cart would offer the better improvement in sound. Can't afford both right now, hopefully I can swing the VPI in the future.
When I auditioned my Klipsch Cornwall IV speakers it was with a MoFi Turntable. I don't recall the cartridge but the speakers sounded terrific. I'm am sure it was at least a mid-range cartridge. Upgrading a cartridge to the Umami has probably made significant sonic improvements in your setup. Congrats, it is a fine cartridge.
@@pnichols6500 that's awesome, and welcome to the VPI family. If you are on Facebook, join the I Love My VPI group. Lots of knowledgeable people there. Far more knowledgeable than me. Now for the ADS. I have one and I'm glad I do. If the word "difference" was defined as "convenience" then absolutely 100%. If "difference" was defined as "sonically" then 0%. You can roll with you VPI as is, which is just fine. Otherwise, like me, you'll enter the rabbit hole. What the ADS does is keeps you from having to switch your belt on your pulley from 33 to 45. You just press a button for either speed once you have your platter speed calibrated, so that is the convenience factor. I got tired of switching belts. Now for the rabbit hole... you will need a different pulley (HRX Pulley) and 3 belts instead of one (although I have seen others use less) to run the ADS on a VPI. Sonically the ADS does nothing, but I am grateful for mine. Another reason I love the ADS is dialing in platter speed. With no ADS I had to move the motor and make adjustments that way. With the ADS I just turn the separate 33 knob or 45 knob. Much easier. Either way you go, I would first recommend a purchase of a KAB Speedstrobe www.kabusa.com/frameset.htm?/strobe.htm as you can dial in your speed very accurate with or without the ADS (not a fan of the cellphone apps for speed control). If the strobe is all you get, then you're good-to-go. But if you want to dive down the rabbit hole (and you can do it over time) my top purchases have been the Periphery Ring and the ADS. I could go on and on about other products that have made my listening experience much better, but I will keep it simple. Reach out to a guy named Jeff who owns Reference Analog www.referenceanalog.com/ his phone number is under the contact tab on his website. Super nice guy. He can get you everything that you need in regards to the ADS, correct pulley, belts, etc. And he is always willing to talk you through any setup. I have no affiliation with him other than him being a great guy that I was referred to on the VPI facebook group. If you contact him tell him Brian Prichard from the VPI facebook group referred you. Down the road if you want to reach out about other accessories hit me up here or at the facebook group. If you get a chance, check out this article from VPI on my journey to owning a VPI www.vpiindustries.com/single-post/vpi-family-spotlight-brian-prichard Congratulations again on your VPI!
@@Metalshock-qn9vs Excellent information, appreciate it all and you going to the trouble. I'll check out the information and I'll probably, eventually go all the way down the rabbit hole! Yeah, I was wondering about the ring clamp as well. I found my MoFi belt works as well, and can order the material and make my own for much less (I used to make O-rings for equipment). Thanks again and will check in regularly!
@@Metalshock-qn9vs Hey Brian, checked out your article on the VPI website, nice! I have been going through the forum a few times recently to help get educated. Besides having the same turntable, apparently we are both Klipsch fans, I have the Forte IV'S in black! The only reason I don't have Cornwalls is lack of space, really wanted them, but we have a smaller house and I only have one spot for setting up my system and as much as I wanted just couldn't fit the Cornwalls in. That said I'm happy with the Fortes, I also have a pair of Heresy IV'S in black as well in my wife's system (she inherented my Ultradeck!).
My thoughts. Hmm. I like them both, but I believe the VPI is the better of the 2. I had an older Technics SL-1300 for years. It was a 1974/75 I believe. Built like a tank. Started having a couple issues with it so I decided to pick up the VPI. The sonics from the VPI were superior, but I also purchased a far superior cartridge for the VPI. I did enjoy the Technics enough to invest in the new SL-1210G though, and I'm glad I did. Just got it late 2023 so I haven't used it nearly as much as the VPI. Even with the Technics being new to me, I still use the VPI more. I do have more options with the VPI as I have a second tonearm set up on that rig. However, I do like to bounce around to both. If direct drive is what you're looking for, you can't go wrong with this one. The motor is quiet, speed is accurate. I have a nice cartridge on it as well. It's also not as costly as the VPI.
