when you build this and secure the lines. I would highly suggest pulling down and tying up the brake lines about 1.5 inches farther than what they recommend it will give you more control
Wow! What a great history lesson that was. As a local to the area that this event is held, I am eternally grateful for guys like Tom that dedicate themselves to this show. I've seen (mostly heard over the PA) Tom so many times and loved learning more about the man....the legend of NEATfair!! I look forward to this event every year. I bring my whole family and spend the day looking at things and learning what I can. I've been involved in RC since I was a kid and love what this show has to offer our area (since we have zero stores for this here). So if Tom can see this, THANK YOU! Your efforts are greatly appreciated!
Bought one and installed after having to fix my landing gear. Worked well for a while but eventually one tab broke off. Installed the second when i got a new fuselage and haven't had any problems since. I cut about 1/4" off the screws so they were flush with the bottom plate. Edit:: 5th flight and a tab broke off on the same side as last time. Did not break the plane or the landing gear but it did make a small gap (<1/8th) in that side.
I put one together last night and had no problems getting those pins in. The end of the pins are chamfered now. The biggest problem I had was with the ESC. It was loose and I had a time trying to secure it. CG location is a worry too. I chatted with Horizon and they say 86mm. I don't see it happening with a battery on the tray.
I'm on my 3rd one! Was lucky enough to fine a 60 size "Custom" finish one. Wow - it's a beauty. Before you say 3 - well I'm 72 years old. If you ever get the chance to own one - please take it. Yes Sir, it will tear up the skies and do anything you want and are capable of doing. I fell in love with the landings. That thick air foil will slow you down enough and make you look good. I lost 1 because I chose a bad day to fly. 90 degree crosswind and wind was steady at at least 15 knots and gusting to 25 but I wanted to fly. We were flying at a small airport back in those days - legal. Time to land and I had to crab walk 50 yards to a taxiway that allowed me to land into the wind. The plane flew well even in the cross wind - keep the power up. I made my downwind fine and then just lost my mind as I eased the power down to less that a quarter. The gust of wind hit me from behind so hard it blew my hat off. My Beautiful Army colored plane (My son was with 10th Mountain and somewhere in Iraq) turned into the wind and just seemed to hove like a gull for 2 seconds before stalling and hitting the runway! I cried and I knew what I had done. Live and learn. Pilot error - not the plane. My son is flying the "Custom" ARF Ultra Sport now.
I hooked mine up last night to real flight evolution but I am not actually on the airfield. Instead it is like a widescreen TV in front of me when I put my headeset on. I don't understand!
I recall Jason demonstrating hand-launching techniques with an EDF Mig15 in a video. He showcased inverted, wingtip, underhanded, and overhanded launches. Unfortunately, I'm unable to locate it on RU-vid. If Jason sees this, perhaps he could unearth it?
@@rcgvideos Thanks Jason. I was hoping to repost in RCGroups for a member who was skeptical about inverted hand launching. The physics of having the CG slung under the model gives it inherent stability, especially the MIG.
