Thank you for posting this concert , I’ve been listening to it for the last couple of weeks and enjoying the masterful playing of the both of you , the great arrangements and ensemble skills.
Thx for your nice comment. Trust me, I was practicing this piece at home on my classical guitar, but have been dealing with shoulder impingement issues…had to use my thinner electric.
@@haroldlloyd8621 thx for your interest in this cool Pat and Lyle tune. Paul is playing the melody. In the duo format, we divide the melodic/harmonic roles. Maybe give it another listen. Additionally, the swing groove may have made it feel different than the original. Thx again for tuning in!
Great stuff! I used to listen to the version of this on Michael Brecker's Tales from the Hudson, driving the kids to soccer in the 1990's. An all-time favorite, beautifully rendered here.
Beautiful. I've been obsessed with this tune for quite a while. I play it every day (from a transcription by Uwe Karcher) Took me forever to learn it (still not perfected). Thank You
Bob, it was great to see you today. I think this is the video you were talking about. So glad my dad got to play music with you. He really enjoyed learning!
Starting around 6:08, a medley of other SD tunes commences: Fire in the Hole, Boston Rag, Any Major Dude, Your Gold Teeth II, Sign in Stranger, Gaucho, Gaslighting Abbie, Green Book. There is one more between Sign In and Gaucho that so far I cannot positively identify. I'll eventually get it, I am sure. Great snippets of these songs. Well done!
This makes me wish Bill Evans and Jim Hall had gone into the studio for a 3rd duet album around 1968 and just played Wayne Shorter tunes for an hour. Someone make a record based on this idea!
