The New York State Archives is a program of the State Education Department, with its main facility located in the Cultural Education Center on Madison Avenue in Albany. There it cares for and provides access to more than 200 million documents that tell the story of New York from the seventeenth century to the present.
My hometown of Newark NY was demolished back in 1975 and replaced with giant parking lots...It happened before I was born but the old pictures of Newark bring me to tears.
This is amazing. This will have to result in reparations for Black Freedmen by New York State ( Wappinger - Munsee Territory) in the form of allodial - aboriginal titled property via Postliminy justice in addition to money in the form of gold. I was robbed of being able to grow up in this area when I grew up in New York City. All debts generated by New York the British colony are transferred to New York the State as per international Law. The industrial output of African Americans ( Freedmen ) in New York City should be 500 billion to 1 Trillion GDP more than what it is right now as the current Black population in New York City stands at about 2 million ! we were robbed of creating industrial magnets at the level of Pratt Copper and Westinghouse due to these ignorant policies of suppressing African Americans ( Freedmen ) in New York City. Freedmen being comprised of indigenous American and African American Stock.
Immigration is bad thing. Stop the import, export and deport of nation citizens. Immigration is modern day slave trade role model. Lincoln is not alive today and would not know better in a modern age with a primitive mind set. STOP THE IMMIGRATION NONSENSE.
"There's only on Broadway, and it's in New York." Ain't that the truth!! This one brings back my teen years, when I desperately wanted to see a B'way show, damn the costs. This was a gorgeous campaign, with participation from many original Broadway casts, thank you very much!!
Something lost and forgotten. I undoubtedly saw this as a kid in the 80's and my memory did not retain this very well. Not one of the things that got imprinted. But social media certainly rekindled enough pieces indicating that this was scene and heard. As memories goes, certain things that predated this have a more lasting impression. And here's the interesting thing. Our generation certainly experienced sights and sounds on TV. Who thought we would see them again. Commercials. TV movies, et cetera. It's something future generations may not experience in such a way. Pleasant memories.
How I recall first seeing this ad and shortly after meeting the Local MA Cowboy star of Boomtown Rex Trailer who plays The NH fly fisherman in this ad of which is the very first commercial for I Love New York.I'm his A#1 and diehard fan. ++++Truly Ste++++
GARBAGE GARBAGE GARBAGE!! THIS IS A SONG FROM THE 70S WHEN SOMETHING COULD HAVE BEEN DONE... IT IS SAD BECASUSE OF THIS, BUT STILL SO BRILLIANT, SHOWCASING PETE SEEGER'S FINE INTELLIGENCE. YEAH!! IF ANYONE HAS ANOTHER VERSION, PLEASE DO SHARE, "...FROM SOME CONGLOMERATION THAT'S..."
I don't know why... why... this spot came into my head after 30 years, and I felt compelled to look for it on YT. Naturally it was there, but I didn't expect to find a first-generation version of it!
Right now There bulding a replacement bridge for the the Tappan Zee Bridge. The work started in 2013 and it's supposed to be completed in 2018. I drive across that bridge every day in the summer and so far the construction is looking great.
