Ok but what kinda contractor did you pay for, did you buy the $1,000 guy and expect a$10,000 job or $10,000 contractor and getting the shaft . Moral of the story don't pay low for shit contractors and expect top work
Hate to tell you the real major problems here I didn’t leave any other post but the hardy backer is not supposed to go over the drywall you’re supposed to cut the drywall out and the hardy backer is supposed to wind out flush with the rest of the surrounding sheet rock such as above the showerhead to the ceiling and on the sides and it’s not supposed to stick out because when you put your tire on you’re gonna have the thickness of the tile and mortar and you’ll see the hardy backer who Have a good that job didn’t know what they were doing😢
That was why I was so dramatic about it during the making of this video. I had to make it right for my friend and Homeowner .ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KP7i512oxMk.html
It enrages me to see this. I consider myself a decent contractor but I find it hard to get jobs. Partially because I’m not good at selling. Another factor is my price. Then I see this garbage. When will people realize that going cheap is never a good idea
My remodel certainly looked better than that and was neater and im a DIY person who just watched RU-vid videos to learn how to so everything. Thats some shameful work.
As someone who used to work for a good contractor who actually cared about the quality of their product, there is no shortage of apathetic opportunists in the field. A quarter of our work came from them.
No specifications to follow. This is what happens when you allow a contractor to make these decisions. Contractors need to be TOLD what to do, what materials to use, specific installation methods to use. "Plans and Specs". If YOU are not capable of drawing plans and writing specifications, then hire someone who is. An architect is the usual person to do that. YES, it will cost you money. So will a bad job. And if there are no "plans and specs" you have little recourse, legally. (As long as the work is within applicable codes, which rarely address such things as sloppy workmanship, cheap materials, etc.) An independent inspector is fine...but unless the inspector has PLANS AND SPECS to work from, all he can do is give his _opinion_ of the work. You NEED to have plans and specifications for each job, and each contractor must get the SAME plans and specs and bid on the same scope of work and materials.
Why on earth would you put the shower pan in before you put the curb down? It definitely should have been put in before that cementinous thacker was put in though. Inspectors here have started calling for a sloped mud bed under the pan. Ik….. it’s stupid. Get someone that can put the pan in right, or turn it down until it is right, inspector man.
Merikans need to see more of the world. You would learn to not be so critical of others work. Not everything or everyone is perfect nor can afford perfection. Need to get down off your high horse and just let it be.
With shady contractors my punch list are usually 1/2 page per room, depending on the size of each room and what my boss is willing to accept from the contractor.
Well, that’s a great improvement over the last video! I used to do contracting work about 60 years ago but now I gladly pay competent contractors because I know how hard it is to do it right and I appreciate the work they do. 😁👍
so you should have seen what the did behind the walls with the plumbing and electrical, I had to redo it all. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KP7i512oxMk.html
Watched your other video, your whole project looks sweet! Very clean and first class! Same deal on this one I’m about to finish up, he had a lot of stuff halfway done like he jumped all over the place and took a hatchet as his only tool. Framing, plumbing, electrical, fixtures and flooring. It’s so much anxiety the first week tearing new material out that’s not reusable at that point… you made that bath faucet work and it’s surrounded by quality workmanship. Great job brother🤙
I apologize, your comment posted on the ceiling repair in two minutes video I posted 7 years ago, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KP7i512oxMk.html
When your contractor shows up with a brand new sledgehammer the first day you know something is wrong. I see a pair of brand new notch trowells there. Looks like a first time remodel. Like property brothers who smash everything and hire someone else to fix it and clean up the mess.
