Just wanted to let you know that XTC was a great British band from Swindon, most popular in the 1980's. Making Plans For Nigel was their first breakout hit after gigging throughout the '70s. You should check out a few others like Senses Working Overtime, Dear God & my favorite, Mayor Of Simpleton. Glad to hear Robbie liked them enough to cover them!
Hi, I'm a new fan from America & just wanted to thank you for helping me discover this great artist! I recently watched his Netflix docu series on a lark & then got lost down his YT rabbit hole. I've just started listening to your podcast & then looking up all the songs you talked about on YT. So thanks for that!
You’re so welcome! So glad he’s making new fans in America. In case you didn’t know, the podcast is on all podcast channels too, in case it’s easier to listen on there. Although for later episodes the video episodes are nice to watch, for the special interviews! Thanks, Lucy & Matt x
@@rewindrobbie Yes, I found your podcast on Castbox & later this channel. I like to listen while I do other things. I actually knew of Robbie years ago when he tried to break the U.S. Saw him on Jay Leno & Craig Kilborne, but thought he was a bit of an arrogant bloke. I'm sure it was hard for him to adjust from the adoration of millions to being humble while introducing himself to us. The cheeky tricks didn't work & his music never really took off. I always found it fascinating, however, that an international pop/rock superstar could never seem to make a dent here. I mean, it's not like he didn't speak English, & many other Brits have made it here to varying degrees - especially in the '60s & '80s. I love the Beatles, of course, the Who, Duran Duran, more recently Adele (who I look at as a modern day Dusty Springfield). Btw, I'm 67, my name is Pam & I'm most definitely an anglophile!
I can understand why a lot people would have really loved this but i was a cream @ nation fan in the 90s and not particularly keen on Take That. This is a bit heart breaking to see what its become
I like this guy he’s got that vaudeville style music today is far too political and serious I remember when artist s were funny like the Beatles the who and queen they all had humour in their music
