Self-sufficiency and discipline are hallmarks of Johnson’s persona, ingrained early in his life by his hard-working and devoted parents. Growing up a “latchkey kid” while his parents worked, Johnson learned to cook and take care of himself, while navigating the streets of Manhattan on his own.

Loved the video. I'm a back yard pit master. I cook for my church and want to take a shot at a business. Where did you find a kitchen to use for your catering business?
I was wondering, you said to start off with a online catering. And then get a food truck. I thought I would need a food truck. Before. So you think I can do the catering first??
Good stuff Phil! This is how I make my Mac & Cheese as well. It always comes out good this way. I still do mine on the smoker though but I understand the space situation on the smoker.
Thanks very much for sharing! I want to start an American BBQ joint down here in Australia. I have a real talent for it and picked it up pretty much first go. Lots of people always ask me to invite them over for Low & Slow Smoked American BBQ. I’m thinking I might just cook a couple of Briskets and Pork Butts on a weekend and advertise online that they’re for sale and I will deliver them hot to their houses on a Saturday afternoon or something? I live in a big town so selling 2 briskets and 2 butts on a Saturday should be achievable. God bless, thanks for the knowledge and the mentoring 🍻
Awesome video. Liked and subscribed. You’ve got some really good recipes and techniques to add your stamp on the bbq scene. I only grill and smoke food for my family and friends, but recently had people ask for me to cater and cook for housewarmings, etc. how would I go about pricing, possible menu items, etc. would love to turn my passion into a catering then food truck and ultimate goal restaurant. Any advice?
