Hi Amitbhai, Thank you very much for the video, you forgot to mention about different locations of pick up and drop off. Please guide on it. Thanks again
Hello Juel. Yes I completely missed that point. Sorry for that. But here is the answer for your question. Selecting a different drop-off location for a rental car in the USA is generally more expensive. This is called a “one-way rental,” and rental companies often charge an additional fee for this service. The price difference depends on factors like the rental company, locations involved, and demand. Pros of Dropping a Rental Car at a Different Location: 1. Convenience: It allows you to plan a one-way road trip without having to circle back to the starting point. 2. Flexibility: You can rent a car from one city and drop it off in another, giving you more travel options, especially for long-distance travel. 3. Time-saving: It saves time if your travel itinerary doesn’t require returning to your starting point. Cons of Dropping a Rental Car at a Different Location: 1. Higher Cost: Companies usually impose a “drop fee” or one-way rental fee, which can significantly increase the total cost. 2. Limited Availability: Not all rental companies or locations allow for one-way rentals. Availability may be restricted based on the route. 3. Different Car Availability: You may not have the same selection of cars when choosing a one-way rental compared to a round trip. 4. Possible Extra Conditions: Some rental companies may have specific conditions, such as limiting the rental to certain types of vehicles or restricting long-distance one-way rentals. If cost is a concern, it’s advisable to compare rates between rental agencies and consider travel alternatives.
Nice informative video. I was harassed every time by car rentals. You did not mention filling gas when you return. They charged a lot more even it’s only little empty. They charge a lot for insurance too.
Thank you 🙏. Yes you are absolutely right. Always fill gas in full when returning the rental car. Do not buy gas package offered by rental car companies. That will cost you more. Yes Rental car company’s insurance is mostly expensive and that’s why I use certain credit cards which provide primary insurance when renting a car.
I personally don’t have any experience with Turo. Turo is a peer-to-peer car rental platform where individuals can rent out their personal vehicles to others. Turo can be a good alternative to traditional car rental companies, especially if you’re looking for specific vehicles or need more flexible options. Advantages of Turo: Wide Variety of Cars: You can find unique cars or specific models that may not be available at traditional car rental companies. Flexible Pricing: Often more affordable, especially for long-term rentals or unique vehicles. Personalized Experience: Direct communication with the car owner can allow for more personalized service and flexibility. Disadvantages of Turo: Varied Quality: Because cars are privately owned, vehicle condition can vary. Reading reviews and inspecting photos is important. Limited Locations: Availability depends on your area, and the service may not be as widespread as major rental companies. Responsibility: Since it’s a peer-to-peer platform, you’ll need to be extra careful with the car’s condition to avoid disputes.
