I remember watching these re-runs, old movies on channel 7 late night TV with my Mom. She let me stay up. I always loved how glamours they looked. Like my Mom in her wedding picture
My parents and uncle were kids when this 1936 film came out. Astaire was born the same year as my paternal grandfather in 1899 but same month and day as my uncle was in 1921 which is pretty eerie and my maternal grandfather would be born in 1900 and his wife was born in 1904. Kinda interesting seeing this 1936 clip when my parents and uncle were kids.
There are lots more examples on RU-vid. He had a 25 year career as a dancing leading man, following a similar period in Vaudeville and on Broadway with his sister and then on TV (his first show being the first one produced in colour). Over 50 years professional dancing in a career spanning three quarters of a century. Not your average Joe.
There doesn't have to be any apologies to the woke idiots of today. It's was a tribute to a great dancer Mr. Bill Bojangles Robinson that was done. That was more than deserved. No apologies, no apologies needed.
The dancing is phenomenal! I 100% want to learn to dance like this! Again, can’t express enough how much joy this brought me. I’ve watched it twice through already!
