Hey! I am a pianist, producer and music educator and my channel features original music, reactions and piano lesson videos, I might throw in the occasional cover, who knows!
Hey uhh sorry to be that guy but... At 8:47 do you mean 8ma instead of 8va? Also, my musical ear kicked in at 9:22 and I noticed the notes on the piano don't match the notes being played 😅 In total I knew 48 of these which I am (kinda) proud of
Yo! Im enjoying your videos a lot and i notice you reacted to Ethan once or a couple of times before and i was curious if you could listen to his hide n seek song, its my favourite song of his. If you cant then dw, good video!
1:40 - i developed a "perfect pitch" purely for G sharp and only G sharp because it is the first note in fantasie impromptu which i have practiced a little too much 😅

A note and its position 𝄞 is literally over-decorated letter G, and the center of inner curl defines the line of note G 𝄢 is literally over-decorated letter F, and the line between two dots defines the line of note F en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clef
Im binge watching most of your content for around 2 weeks, and althought this video is great, im even more impressed by how you stepped up since then! I must say it was really nice to see you play another instrument than piano and even sing :)
People think of Classical music as something written on paper by dead composers a few hundred years ago playing off the score. People have always perform music off the script improvising as they perform. A few hundred years ago in the Baroque, it was common to add ornaments to the music... not something that was written on paper first but as you perform. A well known example of Classical improvisation was during Bach's visit to Prussia. The Emperor Fred the Great who was a flute player played about 20 random notes and Bach improvised an entire set of variations starting with the opening Prelude: "Musical Offerings" BWV 1079. And you have Schubert Impromptu. Today the music is on paper and people would read off the script. A few hundred years ago, Schubert would be performing a composition that he invented on the spot before writing it down and send to a publisher. Today people associate improvise music with the genre Jazz & Blues or something that isn't associated with Classical music or sounds Classical. Alma Deutscher has proven otherwise. It's possible to create something original that sounds like Mozart or Beethoven.
extremely useful, Is there any app which can give me a score on correct notes and timing based on sheet music? Point out errors and wrong notes. I can connect my piano using MIDI or USB to Computer / IPad.
Maybe an idea for you for a next video. And create a transition between 2 songs. For example, if you only play a short version of a song and then play it directly in a smooth transition to another song. e.g. Dancing Queen to Gimme Gimme by ABBA
The notes we hear don’t line up with the visuals showing turns and inverted turns at 9:22 don’t line up with what we’re actually hearing. What we hear is actually G-A-G-F-G, not F-G-F-E-F. The same goes for mordents at 12:19. I don’t have perfect pitch, but it threw me for a loop when I expected the semitone from F to E and heard a whole tone!
the andalusian candence, song was cool I wonder what song that is. I reaslly wanted it to go to Phyrgian dominant so bad tho haha. i have jazz/classic nails for guitar and trilling can be a pain if they get too long for sure. I have kind of learned to live with it a little bit, without a VST, the trill sound is really bad on digital Kb anyways . Espeically the sub par 500 <
Luckily I already know treble clef from playing violin for about 5 years now but I know I’m gonna struggle remembering what key is what note on a piano since there are so many keys. Got any tips to help by chance?
Yet another great video! Even though I have been playing for a couple of years now and recognized most of the signs, it was still a fun vid to watch. For real though, I’ve been playing for like 5 years and have never seen a double whole note in my entire life lmao 💀💀💀
Thank you very much! I am self-practicing piano for three months now and I saw most of the symbols presented in this video but it was helpful you explained them.
A composition was wrote in a minor or major with flats or sharps if he wrote a 2 sharp in a ( a flat minor) [Example] that would not be composed correctly and couldn't fully be correct.
There are a couple of reasons, but one of the easiest to understand is that a typical scale needs to contain one of each letter (A B C D E F G) and so if you have a bar that already contains a G# (for example) then it would be more logical to call the note prior an Fx so that there isn’t two forms of G and no forms of F. It is also because particular chords that are being outlined need to have particular intervals (note distances)…and when used in certain keys and scales, you end up with double sharps and double flats. That’s not my best explanation, but hopefully that gives you an idea! Maybe there is a video to be made on it 😊
Im pretty sure it depends on the key signature, because you’re not really going to use flats in a signature that has sharps, unless your transitioning from a sharp to flat key signature, same for the opposite. At least I’m pretty sure.
Hello Matthew, I have gotten a repertoire for a new year i am starting 6th grade piano. And I have gotten these pieces Polonaise in g minor by F.Chopin , Etude F.Liszt op.1 no 4. In d minor Bach two part invention no.8 and Sonata op.49 no.1 by Beethoven , could you maybe review what grade these pieces are? Thank you in advance.
Which exam board are you doing your piano with? The grade system is different for each exam board (and depending on your country) 😊 E.g the main exam board in Australia has up to grade 10 (I think), whereas in the UK, ABRSM, Trinity, RockSchool etc.. all use 8 grades 😊 The Chopin is about right for grade 6 based on the 8 graded system. I would say the Liszt is a slight bit tougher. The Bach is also about correct for grade 6 and the Beethoven I would say is a little bit easier but has a lot of musical ideas that you can really dig into and think about 😊
I'm willing to bet he's using a Go pro chest mount camera.. I havent played piano since I was maybe 8 years old, but you explain it where even I can understand. well done.
