Idk what Nikki is talking about comparing black n white to man n man or woman loving each other it’s not the same. In an ideology about love yeah you can love who you want we all have a free will n right. But I don’t think it should be a govt. right when it was never meant to be marriage . Plus God almighty condemns it just like other sins all those will not inherit the kingdom of God. Drunks, fornicators, idolizes, liars, killers etc… This is just an open sinful lifestyle that you make known to everyone now they want to flaunt it n defend it. I’m on Gods side for this I cant support this “ love” they talk about. Nikki would not support either if she was walking in the light. 🙏🤔
The harder the road, the greater the products. Ms. Giovanni came up during a time when the struggle was clear. We knew where the potholes were. When you have little, you venture out into the battle, confident that victory has to be yours. Today, we cruse, at least we think we do, on smooth roads, covered with a thin veneer of opportunity. The potholes are still there, and every once and a while we hit one; they're called George Floyd, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice...
deep what she said at the end there. they could have had workers other ways so there was a reason why they specifically sought out black people from the motherland
LOVE Nikki Giovanni’s work and her frank speech. And she knows she’s not always right. And Barbara Bush holding a black baby with AIDS is NOT A REASON TO GIVE ANY ONE PERSON A VOTE.
Was not it expected that Mrs. Bush would hold a black child since America can't survive without us? The slave master's wife holding a black child on the plantation during a riot protects the white master's assets.
i disagree with her asking Africans to apologize on slavery. Out of respect i will not go further but if given a face to face plat form then it would be a wonderful opportunity to make each other aware. And i do understand her feelings about African people and that's ok for me , to each their own but that does not make her truth the only truth. Experiential and historical truths are always biased by our personal experiences .
i wanted to see how life sailed you after the Baldwin interview and i love what i see. time changes some things. the principle remains. and i like that your principle remained. And i understand you in the Baldwin interview. you were raw and real which most interviews today . i learned a lot from both interviews. thank you.
I agree about the apology & the slave trade. I started reading Zora Neale Hurston's Barracoon and had to put it down. Everyone has an excuse and no one has responsibility.
Yes, Jesus is the way, truth, and life because He paid the price for us. We have to be obedient, and love others to much disobedience no order or discipline. God forgive them for they know not what they do.
My great grandmother kept us in church, and yes the African American Leaders in the churches definitely correct, discipline, rebuke us with our parents permission because they assist our parents especially those that came from single parent homes to respect our elders and parents, and other adults.
I am an Author. I wrote a book just released. It called Dance Unto to God’s Glory! Show, Prove, and Move Inspirational and Instructional Workbook. It is on Amazon. Thank you Nicki Giovanni! You have been my inspiration in what I learned from Ms Boykins on your writings. I don’t remember much, but I remember I enter that contest. I wrote the poem “Do You Really Care!”
I Am A Gemini! I won a poetry contest in 7th grade, at Browne Jr. High in Washington, DC. My teacher as Ms. Boykins, representing Nicki Giovanni. I won $75, and a Nicki Giovanni poetry book based on our black culture around 1978-79. I don’t have the book now, I lost to storage after moving so much. She inspired me, and spoke truth on what we as blacks through, and what we see at home in our families, and our race in what we go through.
She definately deserves a Nobel Prize in poetry!!! But the WHITE man would not give it to her because she's not white. We blacks would have to create our own higher version of that nobel prize, to AWARD our great minds, like Nikki. Don't you agree?
