Tayla Alexander, Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship recipient, Waikato university, AIMES Special Judges Award winner- is working with the Auckland Opera Studio - a charitable trust providing tuition for talented young singers considered to have national or international potential. She has sang solo for New Zealand Prime Minister John Key at the request of Sir Peter Leitch. She immigrated to New Zealand from South Africa with her family when she was about six months old. From the age of about 4 she has been singing in front of audiences. She particularly enjoys doing charity work and has sung at the Coca Cola Christmas in The Park, NZ Pops Orchestra and the Auckland City Mission Christmas lunch event, for government ministers and many other charitable events
