@@StrmMusic There are a couple different set-ups that work for mic'ing the FootDrum. The simplest one that we recommend is using the Shure Beta 91A, which is a dynamic floor mic. It'll pick up just about everything and works well in most live settings. Additionally, folks add a bass drum specific mic, which can be a standard bass drum mic. And some folks opt to mic up the snare drum from the top.

As a drummer, my advice is use your right foot for kick and snare. That way when you learn funk beats, your hi hat will consistently play quarter notes while your kick and snare have more freedom to do what they want, which is what you want as a drummer anyway.

which model is this? I am saving up not sure if i should invest in the 5k model with more pedals or start with a smaller build, also can it be converted into a back pack for a one man band style ? Love your drums been a fan since last year of learning about them, saving up ever since :)
Hey Qu! Thanks for commenting! The 12-Pedal FootDrum model is featured in the video. You do have the option of upgrading (to a 9 or 12) after-the-fact if you start out with the 6-Pedal. We find the 9-Pedal model is the best of both worlds in having the basic kit (bass, snare, hi-hat) with a few bells and whistles (Snare Drag, cymbal mount hardware, etc). This is exactly what I would need, but the open side must be on the left, not the right (video shows open side on the right). Reason: if you are a right-handed human and have a guitar hanging around your chest, the guitar-belt on the left side would touch and thus move the harmonica-holder before your mouth while you are playing, e.g. when you have to pull upwards your left shoulder for some fingering. This would not happen if the open side is on the left. Also the small extensions to the chest on both sides might have the same effect, they should be removable. Moreover the height adjustment is not enough, why not use a telescope arm?
I just got mine and I am confused. Looking at this video, the adjustment ring for height and to tighten would be on my left shoulder. This holder I have here, would have to be on the right side otherwise the harp won't stay on the magnet (the elevated hump to steady the harp from pushing forward would be near my lips, not in the back). In short... all seems reversed here. As there isn't any photo manual here I can't tell if this was made correctly or not. pls advise. Thx

Any chance of you looking for endorsement players? I play 150 per year I have a blues rock trio with myself singing whe playing guitar and drums with my feet. Currently, I play a kick drum suitcase and a snare and remore drive cymbal with my other foot. I'd love to try one of these, but it's just out of my budget. I'd love to talk to you about an endorsement deal, though 😊😊

How far out is a build, or do you have stock?
Hey Big L! Sorry for not seeing your comment sooner. The FootDrum (6 or 9 Pedal) can be upgraded after the fact. Folks often get the 6-Pedal to start and then upgrade later. Our waiting list tends to be 1-3 months (it ebbs and flows), but we always try to meet deadlines when possible (birthdays, gigs/tours, holidays, etc). I’m sitting behind a 18” gretsch kick, and some 15” zildjian new beat hi hats, with a mic and a guitar, and the rest of the kit is in my way, and not accessible if I’m playing guitar. I don’t know that I would need more than a 6 pedal, I’ve got a lot going on with my guitar, but I do tend to disappear down rabbit holes with some adhd hyper focus. Nice to know it’s got room to grow if it’s a working media for me

As someone who plays a lot of metal and rock, I wonder about how feasible it would be to modify the toe pedal above the bass pedal into a similar kind of "liftoff / counterpoint" hit like on the snare drag, to approximate the double bass pedals used in some metal drum kits. Man, some of these new features are really brilliant stuff. Those are some clever and elegant additions.
Excellent video. Thank you! I’ve seen various methods of miking the kit and I like the simplicity of how you put the mic underneath to capture the whole kit. Also I like how you mic the percussion and also the snare. I’m a sound guy as well as a former drummer as well as guitar as my first instrument. Farmer is sending me the 12 pedal this week, I’m super excited to rock this. Lately I’ve been playing a foot drum called a bass box and it’s fun but I want the whole kit! And funny I have that same throne. I like to sit high too. Cannot wait!!

hi Pete how are you doing, can you tell more about the Hi-Hat Riser, any specific video about this. i don't find it as an upgrade, on the web site. i still really enjoy to play on my footDrum, which holds up well, despite the energy I expend typing on it every day
Feel free to write us and we can figure it out. The Hi-Hat Riser is backwards compatible with some recent models of FootDrums, although not all, so we'll need to figure out if it'll work with your frame/pedal combination.
