"I am not an artist!" Sound familiar? That is where I was just a few years ago. Then I stumbled across acrylic paint pouring while browsing Instagram and Pinterest. I couldn't believe some of the amazing artwork people were creating. When I dug a little deeper into fluid acrylic pouring, I realized that I was more than capable of doing paint pouring myself.
I am an IT nerd. I love most everything about technology. I've taken that analytic approach I use for my work and applied it to my acrylic paint pouring and I've become what I consider a successful acrylic pouring artist.
This channel is dedicated to anyone that doesn't think they are an artist; to all those that love what they see but don't believe they can create art; to any of you that are stuck and can't seem to figure this whole paint pouring thing out. Join me and lets fail, and therefore learn, together. You can do it. Let me show you how.
Any advise for choosing colors? I don't have an eye for it and I'm frustrated. I have a combo that I took directly from you and it's stunning. When I pick them myself there isn't enough difference even though I specifically tried to do that. Is there a mechanical method? Like 5 spaces on the color wheel?😊
To be 100% honest with you I feel the exact same way. I try to have one white or black, one complimentary color and then other colors that are similar. Or I hijack palettes other artists or from websites like coolors.co.
Yes. I use craftsmart white glue or Elmer's Glue all mostly but pretty much any will do albeit the amount of water you add will vary a lot glue to glue.
Ok got another question, I did a pour the other day and just when I thought it was safe to move it I kind of tilted it and the paint moved and messed it up, so I thought no problem I just paint over it. Well I did, all was looking good until his morning when I got up to check on it I got all these holes in my painting so now got to trash my canvas. What happened was it air bubbles that caused it?
@@LeftBrainedArtist If I don’t have a house paint but I have Floetrol and Glueall can I make a base paint or pillow paint with my white or black paint and what would the ratios be
@@patriciamora2915 What do you mean by base paint and what technique are you trying to do? 99% of the time the base paint is made up exactly the same as the rest of the paint.
@@LeftBrainedArtist Like the pillow paint. And I only have US Floetrol and I just bought some GlueAll. I haven’t started anything, I have just been watching videos. I want to like try ring pours on vases and canvas and maybe try a swipe on tile.
@@patriciamora2915 You don't use a pillow for those techniques. I have a video that talkes about how terminology with acrylic pour is too confusing for people just starting out. - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FxpCka0OwJw.html
Any tips for thorough drying in a reasonable amount of time? Considering in this example it's left to dry in a slighlty higher humidity setting than would be normal. Many thanks!!
I want to try GAC 800 to my mixtures to decrease cracking and crazing. Can I mix GAC800 with another medium and still get the benefits of GAC800 but not use so much. I use a variety of other mixes to my mediums.....Josonia, Liquitex, or my own mix using paint base. How much of the GAC should I use to get the effect of less cracking? 50% ??
Hello, i’m new in the channel. This is impressive and it seems very complicated as many times you don’t have this info in the bottle of paint. I’m curious what would be happening with metallic, iridescent, neon and glow in the dark colours. How would they mix with “common” colours? How to determine their opacity or transparency? Thank you for the info. You are an amazing teacher. Greetings from Spain.
If the paint doesn't have the opacity listed you can check it yourself. I made a video on that here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KVi6Ov3CmHU.html You can't mix much normal paint with metallics, iridescent, neon, or glow paints as the normal paints will take over very quickly and you'll lose the cool properties of those other paints.
I have my silicone mat on it and that provides enough "stickiness". You can use double sided tape or painters tape wrape on a circle so it is sticky on all sides too.
Occassionally I talked about that in different videos. I do talk about it extensively in this comparison video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a3UdyN9w3-M.html
This guy should make tutorials on tutorials because there is NO wasted info in this at all….solid stuff I learned a lot for the beginning of my acrylic pouring arts
Before I discovered the world of pouring paint i purchased a kit of acrylic paint for regular type painting. The .4 ml tubes. Can anything be done with those in regards to pouring?
I did a painting using only those - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U1OZOcLJkec.html - it was a little tedious to mix up small cups of paint but I loved the result.
10/10 video. Thank you for immediately giving the ratios and getting into the information. So many tutorial videos begin with a long intro and just too much yapping.
SO FIONA USED ACRYLIC BINDER WITH HER GLUE MIX. DID SHE DO THAT BECAUSE THE BINDER IN THE GLUE IS NOT GOOD. SO DOES THE CRAFT MASTER GLUE HAVE BETTER BINDERS IN IT. I ASSUME IT DOES BEING YOU CAME OUT WITH A MASTERS PIECE. SO I ORDERED A GALLON OF CRAFT MASTER GLUE. A 4 PINTS OF PEARL MEDIUM. 40 MORE 10 X10 CANVAS. 10 MORE BOTTLES OF AMSTERDAM PAINT. AND 1 LARGE SIGN FOR FRONT YARD SAYING DEEP DISCOUNTS ON BLEMISHED ARTWORK. <<<< THAT SHOULD WORK RIGHT !! I HAD TO BORROW THE NEIGHBORS SCALES. LOL YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHOM I KNOW HAS BROKEN HER CODE. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
No, she used that because she found that mix worked the best of the ingredients she could find. It works with multiple different mixtures but this one is the best of the stuff I could find near me.
WOW VERY BEAUTIFUL !!! WHY DO YOU WEIGHT THE PAINTS AND MIX ? I have not scales. i am into this now for $400 dollars and no bloom yet. I guess a set of scales and $400 more I will be on my way to success or back to work. Is this why they call us starving Artist.
This isn't the bloom technique like you see other places. This is the reverse dip technique. Blooms are a whole other ballgame one of the hardest acrylic pour techniques to learn and master in my opinion. If you haven't taken Sheleeart's blooms course I would highly recommend it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YQ1MCS2rHe0.html
I made one out of a large cement mixing pan ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TLHcqW9AKwo.html and a large storage container ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pMNH9V7--Jw.html
Depends on the water you use but normally months. I have a video with more details here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j3DB7OQyHa8.html
Not really. The problem is you have so many different pigments of to make colors in the wheel. For example Amsterdam Cadmium Yellow is very dense but Amsterdam Permanent Yellow Medium is very lightweight.
