Car Dealer Magazine is the UK's favourite trade-to-trade automotive magazine.
Now 10 years old and with tens of thousands of subscribers across the UK and Ireland, we provide up-to-the-minute news for those in the automotive industry.
Maybe you could you ask the person to provide a driving licence code just as hire companies do as part of their check. To provide this the person needs a valid licence number, post code AND NI number
Seems the bottom line would be the car is stolen (non-payment) and a police report would have been made. I would think the VIN would be available for tracking if it were registered anywhere though probably destined to be parted out.
Easy gwt rip of the over paid finance people and salesmen. It's already in the works . Dealerships will save millions doing this and money talk bs people walk.
10 grand!! Wheeler dealers were paid fortunes for there series..that's why they sold there cars for a stupidly low profit..the reason was to create an honest low profit margin.. but the Shows were paid for each episode a serious amount of money! I was in the car job for 24 years NOBODY puts that amount of work into classic or unusual cars for peanuts sometimes only breaking even! I've restored and sold more classics than most people in the UK.. and I mean I've flipped cars in hours for serious profit as well as repaired them body paint and mechanically as I'm a skilled craftsman but I could sell sand to arabs😂 no offence..car dealing is a skill but also knowing classic car values..so in ending my rant Wheeler dealers was a fun show...but whinging over losing a few grand after making millions from The networks is a joke😂😂😂
I got scammed at my local coffee shop - I paid for a large latte and they only gave me a regular latte The police were no help at all and didn't give me an incident number. When I rang up Action Fraud to report it they put the phone down on me.
It’s terrible now our society is full of scammers and can’t trust nobody . Selling anything should just be cash and checked with a pen to make sure there real . Transactions now can be fake like what’s happened here on someone’s identity stolen. But that cars now classed as stolen in my book as it was scammed in money from an account that’s been paid back and now a car is in the hands of the scammer .
Mike as a TV presenter you should also bring MARTIN LEWIS in with this. Maybe the two of you could really put pressure on the people in charge to change the law.
Car dealers are driven but sales and to say that dealers can get more money when they have target's to fulfill is a blinkered view You cannot Annalise every thing to have a perfect sale as the humans buying are anything from perfect. People change their minds and we are in a recession what ever anyone says it's difficult out there and I'm still seeing dealers packing up and leaving trade . It speaks volumes that two car channels in last few days are saying they aren't taking a wage from their businesses!. What essentially saying is everyone would be selling the same cars which will never happen.
This is Autoglym so called boffin how about snow foaming before your 1st contact wash and never ever use the same wash mit for the whole car if not using the 2 bucket system using 1 bucket but with 3/4 separate wash mits and NEVER EVER USE A CHAMOS LEATHER CLOTH air blow dry it or use a drying plush microfiber cloth
Terrible thing to happen, but you have to think like the scammer to protect yourself. 1) could he have got the credit card details from a compromised ecommerce website? - Yes easily. 2) could he have edited images of a UK driving licence photocard with the target details? - Yes easily with basic photo editing skils. 3) Why is he doing 2 card payments? - because he knows transactions over a certain value (undiclosed by the bank but this guy will have some idea) are flagged at the bank as needing a security check. Really stings, but you're wide open if you accept payment remotely with just images of a driving licence.
It seems it is no coincidence that Barkley's Bankers is the street talk name for Wankers is it? I would suggest that the guy who had his card stolen without reporting it is very suspicious, surely there is some kind of obligation to report that theft that comes with liability?

@@AutoglymUK there were some questions on what products we used in the episode. Perhaps you could post a list as a separate comment and I’ll pin it to this video so people can see?
Why didnt you do a video chat so you could check their face against their ID ?? Not accepting their own pickup is a good idea to ensure the car goes to the correct known address
Why do credit card companies make it so easy for scammers? Surly with today's technology, something can be done . For God's sake, a phone can read your face or fingerprint, but anyone can use your credit card. It is such a joke I bet if everyone refused to take credit cards it would change quickly
hi Mike we suffered the same pay by phone and collect in person then later it gets rejected. The bank would not look at it even though i knew as soon as i got to work next day it was going to be recharged but barclays woulnt do anything until it was--- a month later and the police took 2 months to say i has incorrectly reported the crime and closed the case..i argued with police and 6 months later they still havnt lifted a finger to check the hire van registration with the hire company. Both police and bank are saving money by doing nothing.
Dreadful experience for Mike. It is the banks responsibility to ensure the transaction is secure from both sides because they are the only one's who can check & if they choose not to, they should take the loss. Going forwards I would stop dealing with Barclays. Just tell customers if they bank with Barclays they'll have to pay in another way. The police are not helpful, not much else to say
The incompetence and corruption that runs through this administration are getting more ridiculous. I feel for people with disabilities not getting the help they deserve. Thanks bud for keeping us financially Educated! Regardless of how bad it gets on the economy, I still made over $65000 last month while trading
I agree that there are strategies that can be used to generate solid profits regardless of the state of the economy or market, but such implementations are usually carried out by investment experts or advisors with experience.
I do like James's videos, along with Shifting metal, Berrow Motors, Highfiled Garage, Tasty Classics, just wish there was a like minded site here in Ireland, would be interesting with the car buying situation in our small country
Really good James. I’m slightly disappointed, as I have just purchased a brand new car and not a single handover gift in sight 😂 More of you please, what interesting content and I ❤ the SQ8. Looking forward to seeing the Shifting Metal podcast.
Something like an authorisation on the banking app is doable, but banks don't use it. May be have a delivery date 7 days after the transaction would reduce the risk.
That 208 GTO is my favourite it just screams Ferrari plus i personally think a Ferrari must be red i know people like other colours and i get that but for me it must be red
