You know how Scotland and more so Ireland are mere ghosts of their former selves population wise. There is a reason the Border Collie came from this Borders region, livestock was more valuable than people. . A lot of people suffered, yet a lot went on to great things all over the World. The southern counties of WV are no different. McDowell Co. had 98,000 people in 1950 down to 15,000 that's worse than Ireland. A lot of good people came out of this as well. Research the Nasa human calculator for example or those rocket boys from Coalwood. At the same time there was and still a lot of suffering in WV especially south of I64. The biggest thing is, invest in teachers like Alaska gets deck hands to work above the Artic Circle. It takes an honorable person to be a teacher that has to depend on Amazon Prime to eat. I've never been but with all the stories my family has told me about Welch I feel like I know this place. One thing they always told me they didn't have nothing but they had LOVE ❤ now that my mother had passed away I've got to get her ashes home I know that's where she wants to be! And by "helping people" he means much easier to railroad somebody into jail on trumped up charges, but now you got those pesky cameras everywhere. And what with citizens knowing their rights now, thanks to the internet, it's much harder to beat a confession out of an innocent person than it was back when he started. I know plenty about McDowell county. Decades of corruption and malfeasance leads to their current situation. Why doesn't someone ask the question, "why is it Mingo and McDowell counties are so destitute yet surrounding counties are not?". We know why. Stay out of these hell-holes.
@@BlackMan614 Counties in eastern Kentucky are doing worse than mcdowell county statistically, i went to mcdowell and have seen worse places, one of my subscribers from mingo county and they lived there they whole life and not complaining
More specifically harlan, clay, owsley, mccreary counties KY (all these places mined coal, and were automated, and now have drug problems) Some counties beat others in stats, mcdowell #1 in lowest life expectancy+overdoses whereas others have lower incomes, and are more rural/rundown

Welch sounds like a lovely family oriented town. I think there's enough ingenuity and wealth in this country to bring development and jobs to this town. I pray God will bless this town with a wonderful miracle. ❤
With so many people looking for freedom and working from home, here's what I'd push for if I were Governor. I'd make 1 Gig internet a top priority, I'd eliminate all property tax so people would finally have a state where they can actually OWN their own homes and pass down generational wealth to their children, I'd return to the Constitution and make gold and silver legal tender in West Virginia. I'd also push for a crypto friendly state to attract more young people. This would bring a flood of new residents, businesses and money into West Virginia, I'd move there myself!
Born and grew up here. Moved away for 20 years. Came back for family reasons. Sadly the whole county is a ghost town. Coal from McDowell county helped build the country. Now there's nothing driving to Mercer county is like going to another state. The state of WV needs to help but I think it's to late. You could make a zombie apocalypse movie here and not have to build sets we are nothing but a county of ghost towns after dark there's nothing you hardly see any people looks like the apocalypse hit year's ago.
