I received my JD (law degree) and MBA from Pepperdine University. I teach Business Law for Bethel University in Minnesota.
I am the president of Bedford Industries, a global manufacturer, where I was previously general counsel (corporate lawyer). Prior to that and my teaching career, I was the Director of the Global Justice Program at Pepperdine University School of Law.
I created this channel to host modules for my Business Law course, which I opened up to the world to help answer questions about the how the law works. This channel focuses primarily law education, but occasionally I share some personal projects and hobbies.
Disclaimer: This channel is solely for educational purposes and should not be construed as, or relied upon, for legal advice. The law is constantly changing, so anything in here could be out of date or overly-simplified for the purposes of my class. While I am a lawyer, I am not your lawyer, and I do not practice law for private clients.
Shouldn’t we be quite concerned that Feds have something above a 99% conviction rate and both federal investigators & prosecutors hold immunity. Also, seems in Fed Court the judge throws out tons of evidence supportive of the defendant. And the prosecutors routinely withhold evidence or bury it I. 20,000 documents. Withholding any evidence should be a career ended but they just get their wrist slapped with a Brady Violation, many times multiple Brady Violations in the same case. The Feds need an overhaul. Nobody has. 99% success rate unless they are cheaters.
It seems like civil lawsuits are a backdoor just in case the criminal prosecutions dont work out. I always wondered how is that constitutional. Seems like another variation of _"double jeopardy,"_ imho.
That NM Cop Felipe Hernandez was charged with 2nd Degree Murder for killing Teresa Gomez... and it does seem to be the right charge for what he did. He cannot claim that what he did was legal or that it was within his training or experience to do such a thing, because what he did goes completely against what the law is and what he was trained to do. The supreme court has already ruled on cases like this in the past and since then all the police stations in the country have since changed their policies (and training)... and the cities have reflected in their laws. He just has no qualified immunity to stand behind now. I want to feel bad for the guy, because he didn't go there intending to kill anyone and only did so in the heat of the moment... but regardless, it was an unjustified shooting and he was also very abusive and disrespectful. He just doesn't strike me as a good cop or as a good person in general. I probably shouldn't judge him from just one single 5 minute video/situation though. I don't know who he was otherwise.
just got home from court where a man stabbed my friend 9X as he was being held down & beaten by 3 others...the 3 got a slap on the wrist the stabber got 2nd degree murder...our system is an abdolute joke with little to no justice for the families...the stabber was out on bail for ADW when he stabbed my friend for stabbing another but this could not be said in court...his defense attorney painted my friend oyt to be a drug dealer in front of his mother which was BS...& he murderer to be a frail man with a autoimmune disorder.
dude it's not a privilege if your not getting paid by your employer and you support yourself! I make $400 day and you pay me $10 you want to pay my bills! I'm biased!!
Show up at court and just refuse the illegal search getting into the court building because as a citizen you have the Constitutional right to refuse any search.
No. You mean to say you teach law and you still get this wrong? 1st degree is YOU PLANNED AND THEN CARRIED OUT YOUR PLAN. 2nd degree is YOU HAD NO PLAN BUT YOU MURDERED SOMEONE INTENTIONALLY IN THE MOMENT. Manslaughter is your fast and furious reference. You didn't intend to kill or cause death but you did.
Got my summons. Explained that I was a business owner and that the business would go under if I wasn't there, as we are only a three person show and they let me off. I'm sure certain states do things differently so your mileage may vary. Don't know if it will get me out of another though. 😂
Congratulations! I was also invited to join the US Supreme Court Bar Association. I have no experience with same sex relations, nor did I ever change my identity. Neither have my sons
I disagree with you. Criminal cases are Civil Cases because the Plaintiff is the "State". Since the Plaintiff is a non-physical being, the "State" lacks standing. Further, criminal cases are civil because there's money involved such as Bonds, where the state holds a human as surety for the Bonds.
you can look up my county jail's inmates and see their charges.. how is it that there will be people with YEARS and years of history of murder charges, rape charges etc. how will they be in jail for a month or two and then released and they keep doing it? this shouldn't be a thing! they should rot in jail or get executed. i want to know why these people keep getting released,
This video is literally the best... I noticed how you really threaded the waters and was really careful with your words when you started to reference Zimmerman V. Trayvon Case!.
What if I was working some dangerous job and I accidentally did something innocent and killed someone? That just wouldn’t be fair man. The world will do as much as it can to lock a man down for life, even if it’s no truly justified.
If there is no injury or damages then who is the claimant? The City of [wherever] is the usual suspect. However, the City of [wherever] is an artificial person relegated to dealing with other artificial things, not the tangible. See: Penhallow v. Doane’s Adminstrators 3 U.S. 54; 1 l. Ed 57; 3 Dall. 54 (1795). Traffic citations are revenue generating schemes for the city which are actually a tax upon a protected right to travel. The idea that traffic citations where there are no victims prevents anything calls for speculation. "Ohh, what were you thinking? You could have run over a kid.. Have this $75 fine and an additional fee..."
