Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the music school of the University of Sydney, is the Asia Pacific's centre of excellence in music, providing leading edge education, research and performance.
around 12 years back i and my friend entered our village chapel alone at night and we heard a mysterious music large choirs singing and this sound was coming from the sacristy area of the chapel or from approximately that side . We never understrood what it was but than many years later when i heard the gregorian chant. I realised it was the same similar music but i had no one to discuss with but it was definately a paranormal phenomena and its origins were heavenly im sure of it. it was late night and no one was there around the chapel and the music was soo loud yet so crystal clear. I still dont undertand what it meant
I enjoyed this presentation! Thank you for mentioning the dance. As a Renaissance and Baroque dance practitioner I have noticed many musicians interested in HIP want to know more about the dance but many don't consider it. It's true that in Coroso and in the earlier treatises from 15th c talk a lot about the proportions of changing meter. Monteverdi exists on the cusp of Baroque and it would make sense that he would be aware of these "rules". Also fascinating about the errors in the text! I see this post is from 10 years ago - I hope more people have caught on since then :)
OK . . . It's lovely, but what's the point of an "Acrostic" song being transcribed for winds who won't sing the whole point of the text's special feature?
Absolutely well done. The energy and elegance are all there. Thank you for performing the music of my people. I’m amazed by this performance and also disappointed that orchestras in the U.S. don’t perform these works outside of Marquez’s Danzon No. 2. There is a wide variety of orchestral works in Mexico and Latin America that don’t get performed enough!
Ten years later this lecture is now a piece of youtube history. I hope it will live on to future generations in some form. Today is new years eve of 2023. I will honor this history lecture by coming back each decade. I am 50 years old. I love early electronic music. If you do to I am recommending Madis and Kebu who is inspired by that first synthesizer music and they are both fantastic musicians.
Great performance! Very precised, excellent phrasing and pasting, outstanding ensemble playing! Bravo!! My only concern: the second Contrabasspart is missing!
An exceptional interpretation of my challenging vocal writing from undergraduate Ariana Ricci. Superb pitching, expression, colour, phrasing, drama, composure: the lot. I wasn't there, but it uplifted me to eventually find this video.
