When I heard this for the first time in 1974, I got hooked! I was sixteen then and just found my way into Jazz music. Thanks to „hr“, the local Hessischer Rundfunk, they had a lot of Jazz broadcasting in these years. And the hr still has a great Big Band!
Oh I’m sure I could make them all feel right at home! There’s no way to pick a favorite because they all are so good. The 21” avedis however did surprise me❤ Thanks for posting
The Istanbul Agop is great, but the old K's sing to me 22''. OH YES.....Send me any you don't want.......Nice collection...........................Ralph Onofrio
This is,my type of drummer tone values I use today now myself playing over 40yrs at nearly 72 this era was special to me. Such a legend and to know he was your Grandfather. What a wonderful thing to admire.
They all sound really fantastic! Really nice! However, Tony usually played really large crashes. The 18" here would not have been Tony's choice for such a cymbal set. He went with 20" crash/ride types or often a big chinese-type with rivets to go along with the 22" ride.
2:22 That’s the point when you don’t think about technique and just get in the zone. Letting the music, rhythm, groove, and feel take over. Brilliant musicianship!
Perfect light weight controlled wash great stick and hammering bell is great size perfect tone dark just right pitch what a beautiful jazz cymbal congrats from an old cymbalholic !
The cymbal is still new and in comparison with older ML - pre-splits I would have to play it for a few years then a comparison would work. With the newer Mehmet or Agop as with the old pre-splits Istanbul there are very good and bad ones, almost like with the old K's Zildjian Istanbul.
