It’s cool seeing some of these games and at the same time noticing similarities from earlier games like that one with the balloons reminds me of clowns or circus from the 70s while another one reminds me of contra , I get all the space invaders clones back in the day around the same time but you would hope that years or decades later there would be new ideas or innovations but it seems that a lot of games are based on earlier games , still a cool video , don’t mind me I’m just a old school gamer that remembers playing all these old school games back in the 70s and early 80s so I see the similarities, anyways enough of my ramblings
I always love these videos, as you get a decent little history lesson on top of learning about a few hidden gems, it's a win/win. Growing up back in the 70's & 80's, I would often see or buy games for the home that I never saw in the arcades, as Space Panic is one of those titles. Seeing it did well in Japan and not so much in the states makes sense as the ColecoVision often got games from the MSX. As many of my favorite games from that system, were games I never saw or heard of in the US until I bought them for my CV. And knowing they probably had much more success in Japan explains why I saw so few in arcades over here.
This Sonic game doesn't look like a gem. Desig revolving running fullspeed with ridicolously narrow screen, with no visibility of what is ahead, must have been a terrible experience.
The list seemed to do well regarding 1 game for a series. I see Ms Pac Man and I go “oh that makes sense. Different stages, everything about the original but better..” then you made the original Pac Man #1… like what the fuck. No Marvel vs Capcom 2 anywhere???
I know developers had issues programming this thing at first. But once they got their heads around how it worked, the PS2 was a beast of a machine. They made the hardware sing and dance in ways I thought was impossible. Especially with the limited 4MB of VRAM.
