These vintage films are taken from the original one off reels and scanned to digital formats by myself . I also do sprinkle in some modern Isle of Wight film of things happening at the moment . My sister popped into Yavaland Sandown Holiday park the other day. Sadly the club house, shop and fancy restaurant has gone and been turned into something else. The entrance also says private road now. Not gonna stop us visiting
Very hard question to answer indeed. So many favorite places to choose. Shanklin is lovely. The drive along military road is delightful. Arreton barns is fantastic. Dinner at the Fishermans cottage is always on our 'to do' list every year. Fantastic island 😊😊
Good to see the fountain working. It was off whilst I was there in mid August. Real shame as I used to love walking through the water garden many years ago and this part is all that remains.
I remember one there in the early 1990s. It used to beckon "Come over 'ere! I'm starvin'! Me belly thinks me throats been cut!". Then when someone deposited some litter in his piraty cake hole he gave out a resounding belch. Great way to get kids to put litter in the bin. 👍

The Portsmouth of my Childhood/youth/late teens. I remember my nan and I sitting on the sea front just looking across to the Island in the Summer of '72 when I'd just started my final year at college. The following Easter she died aged 59 - 1 day before her 60th birthday. She used to run a little shop on Commercial Road called Shop & Save, but the Ss fell off so we referred to it "Hop & Ave".
Great question. I have only known it as a ruin. This was filmed in 2010 . I believe it is still there in a derelict state. It isn't on a cliff edge or unstable land as such. I cannot find any information online so a bit of a mystery.
They never said he was coming back, so probably never. Like jungle land, gnomes, liquorice factory, smuggler land, smugglers cave, aviaries, jurassic club etc it doesn't return.

Top marks here - some magnificent views of Gore Cliff, the coastline and Rocken End. That path down to the beach is simply fantastic - I wonder when exactly that disappeared. I'm sure I've seen it on the 1970s / 80s maps.
hope nurseryland does not fall into the sea.... its looking very close to that unstable cliff-edge.....otherwise jack will have to build himself a new house......

As much as i love love the area, its sad to see how bright and clean it was and what it looks like now. Giuseppe hasnt moved at all in my trips this year, and the turtles are still placed on the ground rather than hanging from the trees!
